Pacers will take it. It's a crap offer but I doubt other than Cleveland anyone will beat it.

I don't get it. WHY CAN'T WE JUST BEAT THIS.

We can but we probably don't want to play chicken with George and his agent.

And there's no way Indiana prefers Love to the Laker offer.  They are going full bore rebuild, which means as young as possible.

Mike

They can easily flip Love for better assets than that. Hell, Boston, Milwaukee, OKC, Phoenix, etc. would all give better packages for Love than that George poo poo platter.

If people were that interested in Love, they'd be jumping in to make it a three-way deal.  The reputation of Love as an elite top 5 or even top 10 player has been shredded by being the third wheel in Cleveland.

Mike

They still can get more than that putrid offer the Lakers are offering. In my opinion, a potential lottery pick and middling prospect in the vein of Randle or Clarkson would already be more value. Hell, Boston would be all over Love for that cheap and more if we miss out on free agency, which I doubt at this point.

I'm told Lakers + Pacers currently at standstill on Paul George trade involving either Randle or Clarkson & 27th and 28th pick.

Good on Indy for not budging. Hopefully they keep it up and either make LA up their offer or take another offer, preferably not Cleveland.

Even if he's only top-50, that's still worth more than Randle and two extremely late #1s, right?

Ainge needs to offer better. Rental or not, the Lakers need to suck next year and Ainge cannot let the Lakers get him with such a weak offer.

I agree with this. While there is a very good chance the pick will still be very high in 2019, it would still be a bigger relief to have it convey next season.

Don't make the trade at all costs, but at least beat the offer LAL is making.

Making a trade for George at this point foregoes free agency.  If they really feels he's going to walk, not only is it a rental, it's a rental who gets in the way of a max free agent.

If George is still on the Pacers in July, that is when the Celtics should move.  Not today.
Ainge can still get a max FA this year if he puts in the right trade.
Also, if George is only a rental for one year, that means he will come off the book next year. The FA class next season is much better than this year. And if the Celtics are better next season than this season, they are going to be a top destination for FA's.

I think that L.A. and Magic are a bit arrogant with a low ball offer like that. Realistically,
it should have been Russell plus Randle and two 1st round picks for George.
However, the later it gets, the less they shall receive.

Lakers better add some more juice to that deal

27, 28, randle, clarkson + Zubac or future 1st

don't think Indiana can get a better return than this....

Lakers, per sources, engaged Sacramento in talks that would have sent the 2nd pick to the Kings for Sac’s two 1st-rounders (5 and 10) (1/2)

Lakers would have then packaged one of the Kings’ picks w/27 & 28 along w/player in offer to Indy for Paul George. But Kings said no (2/2).

I was just getting ready to post this. Though that would've been enough for George more than likely, I would've LOVED to see Ball in Sacramento lol

Wow. So the Lakers were willing to pass on Ball or Jackson for a player who has repeatedly stated he is signing with them next summer anyway?

I'm also surprised the Kings didn't take that deal. I guess the rumors that we would trade #3 for 5 and 10 are not true.

I guess we can put to rest the #3 for #5 and #8 trade we have all been dreaming about here these past couple of days. If they aren't doing the trade for #2, then they obviously aren't doing it for #3.

I would still be happy to take #5 and Skal off of Sac's hands, though.

In relation to thread, that makes a lot more sense from the Lakers side. They would at least be giving up something of value.

Magic/Pelinka are proving to be really awful GM's. They are close to giving up some serious assets for a guy that's most likely willing to sign with them for nothing next year.
