I don't get how Indy has any leverage at all. Hasntl PG already stated he's not resigning with them?

No I think he said he will test Free Agency.  My guess is that Indy was trying to extend him this offseason.

While that likely means he is gone, that is still a year away, and who knows what happens up until then.

I will say one thing on Paul George.

Ainge simply does not get the opportunity to get a transcendent player very often. He didn't really have a shot with Durant.

If Ainge "goes Garnett", trades everything and builds the team that will get Paul George?
I will miss all my favorite players, but, I will be more ok with winning a title.

Delonte West, Big Al and that guy from PC? I just had to replace them with "new" favorite players.

Yeah, I really liked that 2006 team with Ryan Gomes, West, Big Al, Gerald Green, etc., but that deal had to get done.  I do see the parallels to this current team.

Are you saying we should trade our future away for a year rental of pg? He said he's going to LA no matter what in free agency. Whether you believe that or not, NBA teams mostly all believe that he is going to LA so they aren't offering much if anything  for him

I thought after PG said he only wants to play for LA we would finally stop seeing the PG trade proposals. I was wrong l

No way PG13 leaves $42 Million on the table and goes from Boston 55+ wins to LAL 20 wins and no hope for a title in the West

If we aren't getting Anthony Davis or KAT, I consider PG13 the best player available for the next 3 years.

Pg13 and Hayward is a much more versatile pairing that Butler/Hayward.

Even if we trade 3,Crowder and AB ( who we wouldn't be able to re-sign anyway) for George

It leaves us with

IT.       Rosier
Smart.  Green(vet min)
Hayward Jaylen
PG13.        Vet min
Horford.      Zicic

Yabu, brk 18 , LAL/Sac pick on deck

Plus ring chasers

That is too good of a scenario to pass up, especially with George and Hayward just turning 27.

How many years did Garnett have on his contract when we traded for him?

Wiz looking into a potential George trade now, too.

I don't expect that they have any real shot with their lack of space and assets, but man what a team that'd be.

Thanks for the update.

I am sure Indy is foaming at the mouth at the opportunity to acquire a package consisting of Morris and Oubre (or whoever). If Washington isn't giving up Beal, they don't have a chance.

good lord.  the trade proposals here are insane.  LA is offering crap. pure crap and people here are willing to throw just about anything at Indy to sign a player who's very good but ready to hit free agency as soon as possible.  unreal.

Are you suggesting that pg13 wants to go to LA?

Sure does look that way. Probably is that way. But not hard to understand why ppl are wondering if he's really firm on it. Media reports have been wrong before. And heck, PG said in the past he wanted to stay in IN. What changed? Obviously he's sick of losing, with no viable plans to get better. Might he feel like staying somewhere he could win? Or is this really firm?

The  Cs should have sources they can reach out to, who know PG, who can tell them more.

Sure PG said he wanted to play in L.A. That makes sense. He's from there and he knows they are building something there. He might like the idea of being a part of the next Laker dynasty. It's even more enticing that Lebron is rumored to want to play in L.A. soon too. Maybe they can buddy up and try to beat a better GSW team...

Or he could come to Boston.

I'd be willing to put money on PG13 staying in Boston if we end up signing Hayward. Something like:

IT
Smart/JB
Hayward
George
Horford

would be hard to walk away from, especially if we were willing to max him at the end of the season. Our payroll would be hilarious for 2 years, but also maybe worth fielding a team like that, similar to the position GSW is in.

I understand he could go to L.A. and play with Lebron. I honestly believe that team wouldn't be as good as ours, and it will be facing GSW in the conference finals until Lebron runs out of gas (2-3 years?).

If that hypothetical isn't convincing, here are some citations worth noting:

George wants to play with Hayward: http://nba.nbcsports.com/2017/03/23/report-paul-george-wants-to-play-with-gordon-hayward/

and

George retweets a "trade the #1 pick for George" article: https://twitter.com/ByJayKing/status/865234295513911298/photo/1

and

George "most excited" to see IT: http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2017/02/paul_george_most_excited_to_se.html

I have to think if Danny misses on the opportunity to snag PG13 on a bargain, that would be an awful shame. I'd give up #3 and Crowder+AB for him. That isn't the 2 picks and a starter they are looking for, but it's probably better than Clarkson, Randle and #28. I'd honestly chance #3 and two really good players on being able to retain him next summer.

Ideally, I'd trade down with Sacramento and give the Pacers 5 + AB/Crowder for George, picking up #10 to work with. That seems like a pipe dream but if SAC really loves Jackson or Ball...

The thing that really sells me, is that getting PG13 probably increases our chances at getting Hayward, which, in turn, increases our chances at retaining Hayward. It just makes too much sense to not at least throw something on the table.

IF we pick this man up and he loses YET AGAIN to the KING...  He wont even bother stopping back in out locker room after the game.

The only thing that would keep him a Celtic is if we won a Chip with him next year..

Seems like an over pay. I'd change that to giving them the 10th pick and our 2018 pick with Smart and draft Tatum and sign griffin. I chose Griffin because Pg don't want to play PF he is not happy there as he has said before.

George, AB
