Assuming we keep the pick, the red flags were there, and I think they're correct (regarding the red flags).

Fultz didn't make Washington better. They lost 10 extra games and it seems like the major difference between 2015 and 2016 is Chriss played 2015 and Fultz played 2016.

People want to call him a generational talent. A generational talent is LeBron James. James, the same year he would have been in college, posted the same kind of stats as Fultz,in the NBA -- not against crappy college teams. He also made his team win an extra 20 games in his rookie season, in the NBA. For all of the "Fultz was in Washington" apologists, ask yourselves... would LeBron James at 19 have led this Washington team to 9 wins?

Ive been watching basketball for ~25 years. There's always a lot of hype surrounding draft picks. People fall in love with the "best case" analysis and dismiss reality. Rarely do players ever live up to the hype, and Fultz seems like the most overhyped person that I can ever remember, and I"m not just saying that as a disgruntled Celtics fan now that we don't have it anymore. I've been posting this all week.

I would also like to point out that the 76ers have a "legendary" team.. consisting of a guy who hasn't played 1 game, a guy who can't stay healthy, and mr 9-22, who for all I can figure out quit on his college team with some phantom injury. My advice to all Celtics fans is to just stay off libertyballers or any other platform that you have to listen to delusional 76ers fans who actually rooted for their team to lose for years. They aren't true fans at all. Actually, now that I think about it, Fultz sitting out games due to a minor/fake injury while his team loses... seems like he'll fit perfectly in Philly.

I was always lukewarm on Fultz, but thought if we were keeping #1 we had to take him. I guess Danny and Brad did the smart thing and traded down so they can get their guy as well as another top 5 pick.

And people need to hold their horses with that legendary Philly team. It's not like they would have been so much worse off taking Ball/Jackson and having that future top 5 pick. If we were at #3 and we traded our 2018 BKN pick and the #3 to move up to grab Fultz, people would be freaking out that we lost our chance at Porter/Doncic/Ayton/Bamba. That is essentially what Colangelo did here.

These two posts are spot on. If Ainge had the 3rd pick and done that people would be freaking out...good observation.

I like the move but I will patiently wait for the other moves because they will be better.

Here is something I've been thinking about.

Why didn't Philly just trade the 3rd pick and the Lakers 2018 pick for Butler?

Butler would've helped them much more than Fultz.

Because Fultz is only 19, cheaper, and is flat out more skilled than Butler who has peaked.

He's better than an All Star day 1?  I don't think so.

they are not ready as a team .....greatbtalent does not not mean immediately translate to suscess ,  look at T wolves loaded with talent ,  you have to develop team ...this takes years of playing together ....Lebron had to,play years with Heat and Cavs to get Rings .
Butler does not want to be tossed into a mess of rookies and a so so coach with no winning record ......LOL......

Butler is like Hayward ...looking for a team that is closer to ready to compete .
Philly can even keep a healthy team on the floor .  athey have barely played a gew games together

Philly is not ready coach wise , team wise , for FAs ..older stars to want to play there....maybe in 3-5 years yes.

Michael Jordan was not better than James Worthy when he was a rookie either.

I'd give you 1000 tommy points if I could.

For me it is simply obvious that Danny and Brad weren't keen on Fultz.  That is reason enough to trade the pick.

I don't think that's what we're doing either. I think we make the pick and use the LAL pick as part of a package to lure Davis next summer.

And just to add to that so-called legendary Philly team that I've been reading, it is not as if their health has been the best. Three seasons in the NBA and Embiid, with his phenomenal talents, only played 31 games. We have yet to see Ben Simmons play an NBA game. IF the 76ers can prove good health they can quickly make some noise in the East. That "IF" is a huge question when presumably two of the top three players have a significant injury history.
Let's Go Celtics!!

With that said, I am warming up to the trade Danny made last night. I like Fultz and wish we could have kept him. However, Philly paid a steep price to move up two spots by sacrificing the 2018 Lakers pick and 2019 Kings pick. Essentially, the Celtics increased their negotiation power now AND the future because they can either keep two potential lottery picks in 2018 along with their own pick and continue to build for the future while having those chips in the between time for the potential "fireworks" deal.

Until otherwise and the trade fails Danny, I believe he must know what he is doing and therefore I am not one to judge his long-term, or short-term, motive.
Let's Go Celtics!!

I have no idea who will be good coming out of this draft. Fultz is the only one that has intrigued me though. The rest when I read about them either can't shoot, can shoot but not athletic, weird mechanics ...

I will say I was not high on Brown last year and right now I think he's better than all these guys!

My point is I don't like the trade because of the return. Every time I hear Danny tries to trade up teams want the farm. But when we trade down all we get is a protected future pick?? I think the rest of the league is laughing at us.

If that Lakers pick turns into 2 along with our brk pick being 1, we'll be laughing at the rest of the league.

I feel exactly like you do. We offered Charlotte all of our Brooklyn picks for a shot to take Winslow and they said no. We turn around and accept this crap?
