Bold bold move my Danny.  I'm in the neutral camp because we simply don't know what will follow.  Wish he could have gotten more but if Danny keeps the picks and thinks he can get good value at #3, I'm okay with it.  Bottom line is that I hope he's right.

As for Fultz, mentioned earlier that I thought fans were overrating him.  Of course, that turns into a war of extreme sides.  I don't man that at all; just that Fultz is not s generational talent and just a little above average as far as #1 picks go.
I agree here.  Obviously the brain trust for the Celtics have seen something we have not with regards to Fultz.  If they have seen the other picks and feel good about picking someone else then I am good with that?  I feel like our guards are very good and we need better wings and bigs.  If we draft another guard it really isn't helping the team moving forward, unless Fultz is better than any guard we have right now.  I hope that is not the case.  This is all very exciting, I am sure DA has a plan.

Is there any chance Philly takes Jackson?

After that big Fultz workout and the instagraming the locker?  I'd say there's a .01% chance

I voted neutral, though I'm leaning towards being on board.

I think if Boston wasn't 100% on Fultz at number one then this is a really smart move to trade back, take someone you do like more, save money (important in free agency), and pick up an extra asset.

I'm just surprised at reports that it is only two picks.  I feel like we could have received more, but we obviously don't know the details.

I guess we'll wait and see...

Remember, someone like Cousins was basically worth less than what we just got back. These high picks are really really valuable.

For example a lot of people were talking about BKN 18 as something that could be the centerpiece of a trade for someone like Butler or George. The pick we got back isn't much less valuable than that one.

So let me ask again: Why make this trade now, 5 days before the draft? Why not wait and see if Philly increases their offer? What's the rush?

We have no idea.  We will find out soon I bet.

Uh-huh. Sounds more like you're trying to squelch any potential criticism with non-arguments.

But fine, talk me off the ledge, then.

Show me a potential scenario which turns this move into a winner by thursday. Come on, be creative.

Like I have said on multiple other threads, Danny and Brad clearly don't rate Fultz much higher (if at all higher) than Jackson or Tatum.

If they are right, and Jackson or Tatum (or whoever they pick) becomes a quality NBA player on par with Fultz, then this trade is a hands-down winner right now.

But we won't know this until at least then end of next year, and probably not until much later.

Until then we have to trust that smart basketball people are running the Celtics.  Given that they had 53 wins this year and are in the situation to have the debate we are having, I am confident we have smart basketball people running the team.

My sneaking suspicion is that Danny wants make an motherload offer for Anthony Davis.  He now has the assets to do it, by offering NO possible 3 top-5 1st round picks in 2017, 2018, and 2019, along with whatever else they want.

Pretty devastated. I said to myself before the lottery if we won I was going to fly to the US in late October to see the first few games. Even though it would be extremely ill advised given my current bank balance.

That didn't bother me though. I had been on cloud nine since the lottery right up until a couple of days ago when this news broke and was clearly more than just rumor.

Guess I should thank Danny Ainge for saving me several thousand dollars.  :(

just thinking

Not thrilled about this deal, but....

What will Lavar say if Lakers pass on Lonzo and the Celtics take him....will that change his bias?

I really like Tatum....he  may be available at #5....trade the #3 to Kings for #5 and #10 and end up with Zach Collins

would you ?   Maybe 1 in 50 or 100 would .    Thats not much hope to lean on .

At this point ....you have to admitt defeat our guy Fultz is being traded ,  like th Boogie descion , not one I like .

Best we can hope is get Butler , Griffin , ect  .....hope Davis sees Bostons as a place to land in a couple years.

Save your money for the Celtics championship parade next year instead. ;)

In Danny we trust.
You mean the guy who wanted to trade 4 first-rounders for the chance to draft Justice Winslow?

I just got back from being out of the country and had no access to media.  Wow, how things have changed in the week I was gone.

I feel shock and disappointment, but I trust Danny.  I was all in on Fultz, but Danny, CBS, Wyc, have all been saying they like 3-4 guys about the same in this draft.  If they decided that Fultz want the guy then better to pick up another pick and still get the guy you want then to just take Jackson, Tatum, or Isaacs #1.  I guess my only real hope for a win is that we can get both Ayton and Bamba next year, then we'll have the front court on lock down.

For what it's worth Isaacs was my #1 prospect before the season started. During the season I became enamored with Fultz and Ball, but I suspect both will be gone when we pick. Jackson reminds me of Stanley Johnson and Justice Winslow, so I'd prefer not to pick him.  Tatum looks really good but I get an Evan Turner vibe from him.  If the pick isn't traded again I wouldn't be surprised if Isaacs is the guy.  I think he had a better workout and even worked out against others the way Danny likes it.

I hate this trade.
It means we are going to give IT max money.
Huge mistake.
Fultz is a generational talent at PG.

Im the one who broke this RUMOR first n got reemed for it on another thread. Dont want Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. for credit cause i dont like the trade now but that dont mean i wont like it next year if we end up with Tatum, Porter and Bamba but let the games play for now
