Philadelphia is planning to send Boston the No. 3 overall pick in Thursday’s draft and the 2018 first-round pick that the Los Angeles Lakers owe the Sixers, league sources told The Vertical. The Lakers’ pick in 2018 is protected Nos. 2-5, league sources said.

I'm confused about the protections now. That is from Woj latest article.

https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-76ers-advanced-talks-acquire-no-1-pick-take-markelle-fultz-215225362.html

We will get the pick if it is 2,3,4, or 5. Otherwise, we will get 2019 SAC unprotected.
Not what his article says. It says the pick is protected between 2-5.
It's protected at the top and bottom. May come down to the ping pong balls again.  To me, Sac 19 and Brk 18 both have potential to be #1 overall

At this point..

Best Case Scenario - they scouted Tatum and really saw something in the kid.. Took the swing.  (kid turns into a Paul Pierce type)

Worst Case - In a draft that featured 4 potential franchise players we dont make a 1st round pick, instead we trade for Butler or George.. Neither of which gets us a chip....

Super worst Case - we lose Brown in the deal for Butler or George.

Rarely has having #1 turned out to be all that much better than anyone available at 3. And the chance to turn one swing into two or three is just too good.   Phillys youth rebuild might be ahead of us if they get health.

Second trade or not, it's better to have a chance for multiple stars or multiple chances for one star than have one #1. Imagine the young talent if he makes all these lotto picks. Wow.

Lakers had interest in pursuing a deal for No. 1 pick/Fultz, but Sixers ability to potentially deliver 3 FRP's in deal too much to overcome.

This makes me think the deal is better than reported, or that one of Chicago/Indiana really wanted that Lakers pick for next year.

this will sit well for the Ball camp  ;D

Danny is taking Tatum.... it is just so obvious. I dont know why yall so hooked on Jackson.

What makes you say that?  Why not, say, Isaac or Ball, etc?

Just watch the video !!!!

As in highlights?  I've seen a bit and he looks like the classic Duke tweener, to me - not quick enough to guard 3s and too small to guard 4s, etc.  Pass.

Until they stay healthy and get any playoff appearance, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Timberwolves have the same talent level of their young core and haven't really shocked the league aside from empty stats.

I think the C's are trading for Butler. The writing has been on the wall for a while now.

looks like Its going to be Butler and Tatum .

Ever since Ive seen Tatum play , his demeanor ,  playmaking ,  he looks like the exact type guy CBS went after in college....but Duke and larger schools beat him out of recruiting .    Quiet no thrills player who does all,the right things .  Plus he is built pretty rugged , just does not seem like the type of player to come up injured. Al Horfords understudy basically. A guy who might wind up being a punishing type of player in the post .

If CBS gets to add Hayward to this .   I guess the Cs will be decent team......IF they keep Smart and Brown.

that just isn't true.  The 1 is almost always significantly better than 3.

Gotta love how the green brigade is trying to spin this deal as a Celtics win.

Over the last few weeks, people posted several hypothetical trade scenarios on this board in which we received a lot more than we do now, and they almost universally got shut down by the majority on this board, but now that a worse deal is actually happening, it's "a smart move". smh
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

So stupid.

Fire Ainge.

You realize the guy who fires Ainge signs off on all the trades, right?

Why would they finalize it on Monday? That is really stupid to limit our options. Everything should have been based on LA selection and whether we like what is left. I guess Danny does have a backup plan. Guess we will have to wait and see.

He must be trying to flip #3 considering he's doing it so early in the week. That's the only thing I can think of.

It's a good sign Danny is trying to set up a deal for #3.

If all he wanted was the #3, then draft day would be the time to make the trade (waiting until we see whether we get a better offer, and also as you say waiting until the Lakers make their pick).
