I don't think we should get our hopes up for free agency.
That's what I was thinking as well. If Danny wants to draft Jackson, perhaps he already knows we aren't signing Hayward. (??)

Unless he is planning to go after Griffin?? Ugh the more I think about it the worse it gets...

Yea I think it's a bad sign as far as Hayward goes. To bad that kid can shoot!

It's far more likely this trade is meant to set up a Butler/other trade than to select Jackson.

If Jackson is our pick after a trade down.  I'm wondering if it will be Jaylen or Josh who play SG?  That's the only way it makes sense to me.

IT-Jackson-Brown-PF-Horford

But if we end up taking Jackson, it makes no sense to sign Gordon Hayward as we'd have 2 wing players already.  In that case it would make sense to go all in for Blake Griffin to play PF and hope that his health holds up.

That might also signal that we will move AB.  Since we can't pay both IT and AB at the same time, and we converted one of JB/JJ to the SG position.

It makes no sense to run 4 small forwards with JB+JJ+Crowder+Hayward.
so a shooting guard Jackson that can't shoot

Brown would be the shooting guard.
Plus, Jackson's shooting problems may be exaggerated.
Avery and Brown were not supposed to be shooters either.

He shoots 56.6% from the line, you can't exaggerate that!

and 37.8% from three.

Curious to know how many attempts he had at both. I heard he attempted 90 threes, not sure if that's a lot in college or not. Including the tourney that's less than 3 a game I assume but my college knowledge is very limited.

I could see them playing together a lot. Both are unselfish, very athletic , great defenders. See Jackson playing power forward role in small ball lineups.
Where would Crowder - Hayward play? (assuming we sign Hayward)

If we draft Jackson maybe focus is getting Griffin.

Crowder eventually coming off the bench.

My knowledge of college ball is non existent.
I still don't like this trade. I would of traded IT and kept Fultz.
But there may be more to this than we know. Jackson will be ready to play defense in the NBA from day one, so this may be win now vs win later.

It's far more likely this trade is meant to set up a Butler/other trade than to select Jackson.

I think you might be right.

Perhaps you are right. I keep forgetting about this part cause I really don't want us to trade out of the draft.

yup.....my contention too.    who stays Brown or Jackson ....both and trade crowder .....

i think we have to have Griffin to battle Lebron and Love

im confused

Just keep Fultz and make this all stop.

Why are Brown, Butler and Crowder less problematic?

So the Bulls want Jackson? Maybe, not sure how many assets you give up for Butler but I'd give up Jackson, drive him to Chicago myself!

Sadly I don't think this is the case. Danny has a sick obsession with athletic players who can't shoot. It's starting to become worrisome.  :-[

When did I say they are less problematic? All I said was I want us to keep the pick and draft Fultz unless we receive a godfather offer we can't refuse.

#1 for #3 + LA 2018 + one crap pick from Philly is certainly not a godfather offer.

I'd imagine Hayward and, more importantly, Isaiah struggle to operate due to the lack of spacing. Playing one wing who can't shoot isn't viable in the NBA. Two? Good luck.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Man, there are going to be a lot of people eating crow if Jackson comes in and plays well. He is considered a better prospect than Brown and is insanely athletic.

None of us know what will happen, but at least give Jackson and Ainge the benefit of the doubt. Draft express has great strengths/weaknesses videos and some folks probably need to watch Jackson's. He is not Winslow or S Johnson.

Also, if Danny is going to take Jackson, regardless, wouldn't it be much better to pick up additional considerable assets?

And as far as the question in the thread goes, both Brown and Jackson can play the 2-4. I see no issue with those two playing together.
