In what world do we have championship guards?
? The champs have a better back court than us, along with being superior at almost all positions.
Washington has a better back-court than we do. Tell me you wouldn't trade IT and Avery
straight up for Wall/Beal ? seriously.
I would do that trade in a heartbeat. Don't know what you're getting at... I said we have championship caliber guards, not the best guards. So let me put it another way, we won 50+ games and made it to the ECF largely based on our guard play. If you disagree with that let me know... simply put our guards aren't our weakness, they're our strength
Answer this!
Who in our guard rotation not named IT can consistently score or get a bucket when we desperately need one?
Scratch that!
Who on our TEAM not named IT can consistently score or get a bucket when we desperately need one?
Winning 50+ games and making the ECF was cute. But let's stop kidding ourselves we NEED a major influx of special talent not more middling dirt dog, hustling, high motor, "dime a dozen", non dribbling, non shooting, non creating role players. This entire team is made up of them.
Lol that argument is simplistic, why would I name someone from our rotation other than IT that can score if IT is a part of our rotation? The 2017 team was built around IT penetrating, which is why Crowder worked on hia 3point shot and why Jaylen is now working on spot up 3s in the corner... there is no need for 2018 to be so constructed... especially if we get a Hayward
But I do agree we need more scorers, but we need players that score in different ways. Fultz method of scoring is just like ITs, so one defensive plan takes out two players. With scorers at different positions it becomes more difficult to defend. Porter at the 3 or 4 is a problem, Ayton at the 5 is a problem... the problem with our scoring now is that it is too perimeter based... so if shots not falling we're doomed.
You're making my point.
Why would you name someone other than IT? YOU CANT!
The 2017 team built around IT was/is flawed! If you're depending on Crowder and Jaylen turning into the shooters we need, then we really are doomed. While we're at let's hope Kendrick Brown, Rondo and Smart develop one too.
We need scorers PERIOD! It doesn't matter where they come from. Look at GSW, Portland, Washington, Houston.
And u keep talking about next year's draft. We're not guaranteed to get any of those guys. Danny might end up trading those picks too!
This is funny, so you say I'm proving your point and then send me to look at Houston (built around Harden penetrating), Washington (built around Wall penetrating) and Blazers (built around Lillard penetrating) to say they are doing the right thing.
The 2017 team was definitely flawed, but it was also incomplete and the flaw was not our backcourt whether starting or bench.
You got me though on Danny probably trading 2018 picks
My point in listing those teams is that they have multiple scorers in the backcourt. It doesn't matter where scoring comes from as long as we have more than one guy who can consistently do it. I'm tired of all these high motor guys who can't shoot! This team has enough of them.
Our flaw was SCORING! First and foremost! Our goal right now should be, how to add scoring! Not high motor, defensive guys!
So you point to teams with scorers in the backcourt and then in the next sentence say scorers don't need to be in the backcourt and top it off by saying we simply need scorers... which is what I've been saying from the start. I also pointed out that it is better to have scorers at different levels to make it harder to game plan against. So a Tatum in 2017 and a Porter/Ayton in 2018 is great to address short term scoring for a dynasty run.
Also, newsflash if Porter was in this draft Fultz would be classified on the same level as 2nd tier with Ball and everyone else
Let me clarify...
I don't give a rat's arse where scoring comes from, PERIOD! We just need more of it. Fultz is the best scorer in the draft who can do it at all three levels, he has the most offensive tools, is versatile enough to play both guard positions, is beyond his years when running the pick n roll.
Newsflash, how do u know we're getting Porter???
