Great conundrum to be in. I love both guys in Brad's system. Blake's injuries - not so much. But he has certainly adjusted his game in recent seasons and, when he did play this past year, he was a 21+pts 8+rbs 4+asts guy (pretty sure). Purely from a statistical standpoint, that's more than what Hayward gives us. But it's close.
I'm starting to talk myself into Griffin even though Hayward may well be the wiser choice, but the reason has more to do with Jaylen Brown / Jae Crowder. Man... I'm tired of Crowder. I love his intensity, his toughness, etc., but I can't help but seeing him as the sore thumb. It's unfair but that's just how I feel. Sick of watching him, honestly.
If we sign Hayward, Crowder needs to be the odd man out, not Brown. But I'm not sure what we do with him. His value is still great but his ceiling is probably exactly where he is right now. In other words, he's too good to bench behind Brown as the third-string SF, but he's not good enough to warrant burying Jaylen, either.
