Hayward can shoot the 3. Griffin cant

That is a good point but Griffin can make that long KG 2 to help spread defenses out. The 3 is the weapon of the day right now in the NBA.

Hayward. The C's are desperate for wing scoring because quite frankly, they have none. And with the current trend in the league leaning towards more small ball, I think there should be a premium on guards and wings that can create offense/score/shoot. Hayward fits this offense like a glove, is familiar with Stevens, and the C's have a glaring hole for secondary scoring alongside IT.

Griffin is not a bad player obviously but he is older than Hayward and has a much more extensive injury history as well. Also, not convinced he's a Boston type of guy. Also, think he's likely to stay in LA as well.

Blake shot .336 last year.  Not great, but pretty good.

Easily good enough.

Just needs to be a credible threat to actually shoot it. last year we started Amir Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing Johnson.

Didn't Amir have the best 3 point percentage on the team?

I like Hayward over Griffin.

Biggest reason: Brad Stevens coached Gordon in college and knows right where to install him on the court. Its a no brainer. Blake Griffin would be a great fit if healthy but the experience between Gordon Hayward (the player) and Brad Stevens (the coach) is going to be an easier and smoother transition.

I think this whole Griffin injury thing is way overblown, and is more of a perception issue due to Griffin's game being perceived as built on athleticism.

Over the last three seasons, Kevin Durant missed more games than Blake Griffin. Would you also be hesitant to sign KD because of his injury history?

I mostly agree with this. He has been very unfortunate with the timing of some of his injuries. Griffin's stats were on par with his pre-injury years last year. That said, people have said that he is notably less explosive now, so his value has to take some sort of hit.

But Blake is a great fit too. Great roll man who can also pop, great passer out of the post, overall an ideal Stevens big. Plays a position of need unlike Hayward.

Easy. Even though a "star" 4 is what this team needs, Griffin is on his way down(age is only somewhat of a factor) especially because he can not rely on his generational athleticism as much.

Hayward will have an age of 27-30 and unlike Blake he has not shown a downward trend in his athleticism...which he does not rely upon as much as Blake relies on his athleticism.

If KD was only a Blake Griffin level player His injury history would be a much larger point

How? No production for a max contract is no production for a max contract. Doesn't change the fact that the injury concerns are overblown.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Yeah, that still doesn't change anything. The "risk" in "risk/reward" is still the same.

If you're concerned about Blake Griffin's injury history, you should be concerned about KD's, as well, but you never hear anything about KD's alleged injury proneness, while people bring up Blake's all the time.

Is it a concern? Sure. Should it deter us from pursuing Griffin if we have the chance to sign him? Nah

the risk is comparably small with KD because the reward is so great. Thus it doesnt get talked about as much.
Not the case with Grffin.

i will say, that Griffins injuries have all been high profile in nature(punching someone, in theplayoffs etc) causing them to be a bit overblown.

I think you are, in general, correct.

I understand the reasoning behind the Hayward crowd, but I think Blake would be the difference maker that Gordon couldn't be. Blake as a "death lineup"/small ball 5 is unguardable... he's a better passer, driver, and finisher than Draymond (and if he continues to improve upon his jump shooting as he has every year ala Avery, his versatility will be even more dangerous).

With Griffin we suddenly matchup better against Cleveland and GS most used lineups.

Horford Thompson
Griffin Love
Crowder Lebron
Bradley Smith
Thomas Irving

Griffin Green
Crowder Durant
Smart Igoudala
Bradley Thompson
Thomas Curry

Swap out Crowder for George and I really think that the C's can interrupt this streak. With Hayward, I see a 60 year win team that loses in the conference finals again with or without swapping George or Crowder.
