Griffin easily for me. Fits many more holes than Hayward at a similar overall price and skill level.

Neither for me.

Injury history that is only going to be worse for griffin.

Hayward is great but he is another shooter who will stand on the perimeter.

We need a player with length for defense, that will rebound and can hit an open  midrange shot.  Defensive Rebounding deficit was a glaring problem in the playoffs. We were murdered on the boards in games we lost.

You haven't seen much of Hayward then. He's a good out side shooter, but he can take it to the hoop, or he can make a quick move to the paint and pull up. He's a very good shot creator, which is something we really need, and he can handle the point, which frees up IT a bit. He's a MUCH better offensive player than Crowder who is only a jump shooter and straight line driver.

The player you want most likely wont be available or cheap, because EVERY one needs those type of guys. Hopefully we get Porter next season, that my be the closest we get to that kind of player, unless a GM goes dumb.

Best thing would be both. I'm can't remember off the top of my head but could Hayward be traded if he ops in. HE could tell the Jazz he's gone, but the C's will give them a little something. Like AB,KO(they liked him),non Nets picks. I'm sure there is a waiting period, or could there he a S&T?

Then you can make the moves you need for Griffin.

IT/Smart
Brown/Fultz
Hayward/Nader/Green
Griffin/Yabu
Horford/Zizic

Not sure that works cap wise, too late of night and early of mourning to want to crunch numbers, but thats a veyr competitive team.

And if the Jazz wants to toss in Gobert, I'd be okay with the pick being the Nets pick. LOL

Thinking like Danny:  Why trade away assets when Hayward can be signed outright?

It's to get both Hayward and Griffen. You could make the trade for Griffen instead of the Clips are going to blow it up. We can't sign both out right, but trade for one and sign the other.

Hayward will be an MVP candidate if he comes here and I realize how ridiculous that sounds

When I read posts that say Hayward will just stand on the perimeter and shoot 3's or that Blake can't shoot 3's, I just shake my head. Like, seriously guys?

Anyway, on topic, while I like Hayward's game more, I think Blake fills huge holes on this team and would be a terrific fit. I mean, outside of Horford, our front court is just pathetic. If we can acquire Blake, I think we need to go for it

Don't be fooled by Blake's reputation as a freak athlete. His actual offensive game more resembles Al Horford than peak Amare Stoudemire. He could always jump out of the gym, but he never had a quick first step, and never built his offense around his athleticism. That's why when he came back from injury this past year and looked clearly less athletic, he still played some of his best basketball.

He is an outstanding passer, he has a nice shooting touch and he can be a bull inside. He plays a position we get very little productivity out of now. As long as he can stay on the court, he'd make a bigger difference to us than Hayward would.

Also a lot of his injury history reminds me of Avery Bradley's. Lots of things happened to him, but most of those injuries didn't turn out to be chronic stuff. He's had some knee stuff, unlike Avery, but nothing debilitating long term.

^ how do you propose we acquire such a center?

Good question. I'm not talking about a mega star here, I'm more talking about a player that will give you some tough D and rebounding. The C's like playing small ball with Horford at the center...If we have a star at center making heavy dollars its hard to justify sitting him to play small for 60-70% of the time.

How do we acquire him? Trade Crowder, Rozier, and few draft picks (not the Nets) Also look at the free agent market. Mason Plumlee maybe.

It isn't an even field. Griffin has too many injury issues. I'd prefer the Griffin of a couple years ago, but not now. Hayward going up, Griffin going down.

I agree with this. He's been super effective every time he's come back from an injury. If his 3pt shot continues to develop, he can be better than he ever was.

Griffin hasn't played a full season in 3 years. I'd rather wait a year and see if we can get a cheaper prospect like Noah Vonleh or Aaron Gordon.
