It makes sense to go after Hayward if we have a better shot at him than at Griffin, but I'm curious what everyone thinks: if you could choose, would you take Hayward or Griffin?

2016-17 stats comparison: http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.fcgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1_hint=Gordon+Hayward&player_id1_select=Gordon+Hayward&y1=2017&player_id1=haywago01&idx=players&player_id2_hint=Blake+Griffin&player_id2_select=Blake+Griffin&y2=2017&player_id2=griffbl01&idx=players

Career stats comparison: http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.fcgi?request=1&sum=1&player_id1_hint=Gordon+Hayward&player_id1_select=Gordon+Hayward&player_id1=haywago01&idx=players&player_id2_hint=Blake+Griffin&player_id2_select=Blake+Griffin&player_id2=griffbl01&idx=players

Both players had similarly good years last year, but it was a career year for Hayward and just another great year for Griffin, who has had a much better career overall. While Griffin is certainly a more special talent, he has been plagued by injuries. That said, the injuries don't appear to have hurt his production, and added a relatively effective 3pt shot last season. Griffin also might fit better than Hayward alongside our deep backcourt.

This is a tough one for me.  Blake has obviously lost a step and has serious health issues, but he fits a major need and - when healthy - is a force.

Hayward is hitting his prime and peaking right now.  You could see him being a All Star for 3-5 more years.  He has a lot of Paul Pierce in his game and boy do we need some of that.

I said Griffin because I think there is a small chance you could sign him to a short term deal coming off the injury.  Otherwise for either player it is a huge commitment and I am not so sure either one makes the team a legit CLE/GSW threat.

Blakes injuries are brutal, but the fit here is exponentially better and he is a better player.

I'm going Blake.

I agree with the consensus here.

I think that if Blake Griffin was healthy... this would be a no-brainer.

Because he isn't.. I might give Gordon Hayward the slight edge.  Blake is a better player and fits our team perfectly.

I also think that Griffin the most likely to stay put between the two.

Hayward might too, but if I had to put out odds, I'd say there's a better chance Hayward is leaving his current team than Griffin.

Griffin seems like an LA or Miami kind of guy.

You just can't overlook the injury history.

At the trade deadline this year I was disappointed we didn't get Bogut. Figured he'd be cheap, and if he stayed healthy he'd give us a nice boost in the playoffs. He played less than one minute for his new team before breaking his leg. Literally.

And the thing about a four-year max deal is, unless he injured badly enough to retire, your cap sheet is clogged. We'd have to break up our core and lose flexibility going forward.

Yes, any player can get injured. There is always a risk. But with BG there's too big a risk.

I think this whole Griffin injury thing is way overblown, and is more of a perception issue due to Griffin's game being perceived as built on athleticism.

Over the last three seasons, Kevin Durant missed more games than Blake Griffin. Would you also be hesitant to sign KD because of his injury history?
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Griffin for me...

I think our main weakness is lack of a dominant front court scoring presence and though oft injured, Griffin is still amongst the best in the league. After the lengths they went to get Deandre to re-sign however, I feel the only way he leaves is if CP3 leaves first.

If you compare the 2017 playoff stats it's all Hayward!  ;D

If KD was only a Blake Griffin level player His injury history would be a much larger point

4 years max for Griffin is scary for me. His injury history is not good, and he seems to be aging quickly. I like his game... I just wonder what will be left of him in 3-4 years. I don't want to sign a player for max who plays 50 games a year.

Hayward is entering his prime years, IMO he'll get better. He has no injury history, he's an underrated defender, has great positional size.

If we could get a youngish legit center that requires 20-25 minutes a game, we could let Horford play some minutes at PF, and he could play center when we go small. We'd have an answer when we loose the boards, and are dealing with the huge centers in the league.

i went with Hayward.

Easy.

We drafted on last year, and he's coming over this year.

Done. LOL
