I don't get the concern.  Hayward can replace James Young on the Roster and Fultz can replace Demetrius Jackson.  I am guessing that Gerald Green is easy enough to let go also.  Thomas (pg) and Bradley (sg) start in the back court, Hayward probably starts at SF with Crowder still getting minutes but off the bench.  Smart is the primary combo guard off the bench with Rozier, Fultz, and Brown competing for additional minutes as young players should.

If one of Rozier, Brown, or Fultz plays well enough to make Bradley or Smart expendable, great, make a trade for a big to reinforce what is going to continue to be a weak front court.  We could end up losing (or not wanting back) Olynyk, Johnson, and Jerebko.  That is a lot of "big" minutes to make up.  Zizic seems like he will join the roster and I bet Mickey and Zeller are back on the bench but we could still really use a stud PF.

I think the Jazz will steal KO away from the Celts

Offer him more and Celts wont match

Gobert and KO upfront could be annoying to play against
They steal Kelly away from us, we steal Hayward away from them.

Sounds like a plan! 8)

Like a trade

But what if they steal KO and keep Hayward. How would you feel?

All those non guaranteed salaries are gone to make cap room for a max FA. Start right there. None of them are critical. That frees up about 4 or 5 spaces--enough to accommodate a FA and Fultz. Zizic figures to be on the roster, as well. Plus they need to get better up front with at least one more banger. The core of the team remains IT, Horford, Smart, Crowder, Brown, Bradley, and Fultz if drafted. The rest are on the bubble, some more than others, depending on salary. Rozier boosted his stock in the playoffs. Olynyk a close call, but not worth overpaying.

I don't think Yabu will stay in China another year. Celts will have to do something with him.

What's that based upon?
What is your opinion to the contrary based upon?

They renounce KO, stick Yabu overseas, trade Rozier and Jackson into someone's cap space, and get rid of the rest not named below. Works under the cap:

 Max FA 30,300,000
Horford, Al 27,734,405
Bradley, Avery 8,808,989
Top Pick at 120% of Scale 7,026,240
Crowder, Jae 6,796,117
Thomas, Isaiah 6,261,395
Brown, Jaylen 4,956,480
Smart, Marcus 4,538,020
Zizic 1,645,200
Nader 815,615
Min Player 815,615
Min Player 815,615
Total 100,513,691

Doubt they can get a max FA though and then it becomes a matter of who they can get in FA and who does the saved money help keep? Doubt there's a trade, but who knows with Danny.

Finally, why anyone would want to get rid of Crowder and his cheap contract is beyond me.

Yabu will be with the Celts or Dleague this season

You dont play with him and keep stashing him overseas

Why bring him back this past season for the dleague then?

I cant see how crowder and hayward coexist..

Crowder nor hayward can guard shooting guards nor pfs full time

How did we find minutes for Paul Pierce and James Posey?

It's the same dynamic. Hayward is the starting SF. Hopefully, Crowder is the backup SF/PF.

Also, Hayward plays SG just fine.

Where do you see Jaylen Brown next season, Roy? Starting 2 guard?

Because signing Hayward is not a given. If we don't sign a max free agent, a real possibility, Yabu is going to be on the roster.  It's called contingency planning.

Rozier is gone, yes. Makes no sense to move Crowder when he's the Smart/AB/IT/himself that isn't up for a big contract next summer. Celtics cannot afford to pay all of those guys in addition to Crowder (it would mean record-shattering luxury tax bills), so it makes more sense to trade one of Smart/AB/IT. AB is most likely because it eases the cap crunch more than dealing Smart and because Smart is the better asset. IT is least likely because he would be involved in the pitch to Hayward.

But how do you split up the mins?

I cant see how crowder and hayward coexist..

SF isn't even a position anymore. Brad likes to play 2 guards, 2 wings, 1 big. Crowder + Hayward are wings.

In cbs or gsw eyes

But for the rest of the league not really

Not eveyone has a draymond green

Jae Crowder nor Hayward can guard legits pfs . A pf like morris could take adv of Crowder

We witnessed it firsthand

That doesn't work against CLE, where you have Love and Thompson on the floor together, not to mention the freight train Lebron. You need that 2nd guy who can cover one of them, and not get mowed down in the process.  Crowder struggled this year on that. I think Yabu in a couple of years could help, but will take seasoning.

Just thought over it and it's quite hard to jam AB, Smart, Fultz, Hayward and Brown all into that 2/3 area, let alone trying to fit in AB, IT, Smart, Fultz, Hayward, Brown and Crowder into 3 positions. Every day looks more likely that someone is going to have to go.

Why not bring him to DLeague this past season?

He's not nearly NBA ready otherwise and playing in a top league overseas > DLeague next year.
