Rozier and #37 for Giles

Yes, at some point, it makes sense to get some high-upside bigs in here at the risk of guard depth.  Giles was extremely highly regarded before last year.  Even if Rozier has a solid career, that is the kind of gamble I'd be willing to take,

Honestly I'd be surprised if this dude makes it past 10 unless those knees are just completely shot.  His physical attributes are exactly what you need in a 5 in today's NBA, and there are few good bigs in this draft.  Somebody will reach based on potential and need unless he just isn't healthy.

That said, I'd do this deal if it's on the table.  I loved what Rozier brought in the playoffs, but Giles fits a big need for us.

Honestly I'd be surprised if this dude makes it past 10 unless those knees are just completely shot.  His physical attributes are exactly what you need in a 5 in today's NBA, and there are few good bigs in this draft.  Somebody will reach based on potential and need unless he just isn't healthy.

I think it's indisputable that "he just isn't healthy". Multiple torn ACL injuries, a poor combine, and a bad year at Duke all point to that. If he gets his athleticism back, he's much more likely to tear his ACL again than an average player is.

Despite that terrible history, I'd gamble on him, but I think a team would be foolish to spend a lottery pick on him.  We just have a little more room to gamble than most teams.

If Giles checks out medically and looks good in work outs he might be the type of player to gamble on. Rozier is quickly going to get lost in the shuffle with this lineup. Right now, following a strong playoff performance, might be the best time to deal him.

Agree with this except I was actually thinking that if Rozier keeps improving he might be the one to cause Smart to get lost in the shuffle.

For less money, I'll keep the less expensive guy with better handles, shooting, and speed.

I see a Smart/Crowder/Clips pick/our 2018 pick getting us the quality 4 we need

And I see Rozier as IT insurance. We should have that.

Would you package Rozier and #37 for him, with full knowledge that he's unlikely to contribute at all next year?

As an aside, #17 is about where a Rozier trade for a pick becomes salary cap neutral

Yes.  It's time to start consolidating this roster and taking some risk.  If Giles has a 10% chance of reaching his potential (due to medical issues), the upside is so high that I think it's worth it.  If we had the Phoenix Suns medical staff then I'd be more confident, but we don't

I just don't see a lot there with GIles. If we were to trade up, which I seriously doubt we will, then I see a # of better prospects to look at over Giles. Even still, we're going to saddle CBS with coaching 3 rookie big men? Don't think that's going to happen.

IMO, come next season, Zizic, Yabu, and Fultz will be our only rookies, and our 2nd rounders will be traded away or draft and stashed.

I doubt Yabu comes over next year, but Nader probably makes the team.

As for Giles' height, every NBA player's height is "in shoes" now. I mean, Lebron is 6'7", but he's usually labeled 6'9".

Hell no. I am not trading a quality prospect like Rozier for an injury riddled dud like Giles.

The 2nd round pick is all I am giving up for Giles.

I wouldn't give up the highest of teams 2nd rounders.  Rozier looks very good when given playing time and he is ready to contribute now. Giles needs another year or more to be a factor. Should be a swap.

Rozier shot 36.7 fg% and 31.8 3p%  Don't see why anyone is particularly high on him.  Don't see why the Bucks would trade for him win they need shooters. 

If the trade were available, I'd do it even though I'm not high on Giles based on his performance at Duke.  My philosophy is to draft for upside.  Giles has some star potential.
