Let's say Giles falls past the lottery, to around #17 or so in the draft.

Would you package Rozier and #37 for him, with full knowledge that he's unlikely to contribute at all next year?

As an aside, #17 is about where a Rozier trade for a pick becomes salary cap neutral

Depends if Yab is signing or not.  There is only so much room to develop young bigs, and three 1st round rookie bigs seems like one too many, even if two will spend the majority of their time in Maine.

This is a great idea.  I think Giles is going to surprise people. Heard his workouts going very well.

No.

I'm pretty high on Rozier, especially on such a cheap cheap rookie deal. First full year on the squad/NBA, and played in the ECF like he belongs there.  You only give that up in a KG-like deal, once in a lifetime. And you Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. the whole time that they're ripping you off.

Yes. Especially if we end up drafting Fultz which - in my opinion - makes Rozier expendable given that we would have three (possibly 4 if you count Avery in) players who can handle the ball on this team.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

If Giles checks out medically and looks good in work outs he might be the type of player to gamble on. Rozier is quickly going to get lost in the shuffle with this lineup. Right now, following a strong playoff performance, might be the best time to deal him.

Giles if healthy is Noel with better offense.  Can be a phenomenal offensive rebounder. The big if is his health. Danny not afraid to role dice, witness Leon Powe, albeit in 2nd round. Was still a great pick even though his career cut way too short.

If Danny wants him badly enough he can toss in another future non-Brooklyn first. Maybe we trade with Bulls, who wanted Rozier in the draft a couple of years ago. They pick 16.

I would rather trade the late 2nds, but the one thing this deal does is it gives us two additional years on a rookie contract. With the money about to explode out of ownership's pockets, it might be necessary to consider a move.

Harry Giles was a top prospect as recently as a few months ago. I understand the injury concerns, but his potential might be even greater than Rozier's.

If Giles checks out medically, he's not going to make it to #17.

But yes, I would.

Agree with this except I was actually thinking that if Rozier keeps improving he might be the one to cause Smart to get lost in the shuffle.

I get the feeling he's going to get drafted above his mock projections.  His pre-NBA-draft-year reminds me a ton of Thon Maker's.  Similar kind of player too.  I see him going 9-14.  But regardless of where he is drafted, I would still do Roy's proposed trade if the team was interested.

I would want to wait on moving Rozier until I find out what happens in free agency. Let's say the team decides to move Bradley to make cap space for Hayward, if that happened I would want to keep Rozier.

Value wise, it makes sense and with how deep the C's are in assets they can afford to take a home run cut on a player like Giles.

That would work.

IF they draft Fultz and keep Smart, Rozier is the 4th PG on this team (even if one of the other three start at SG)

How high would we billing to go to get him? We have so many assets, and frankly need to clear roster space. We can afford to move up pretty far if he his medical is clear.

Danny likes opportunities, like Belichick, that are created from injuries. Powe, and Embiid are examples. Giles is very athletic. We can't just assume that we will get one of the top bigs in next year's draft.

This is an excellent proposal... ...it's a good idea for the Bucks, who could use someone with Rozy's skill set, and it's a good idea for us - trading a guard for a forward.
