Do not get me wrong, i love the energy and passion of our fanbase, I just don't think a lot of the teams some of you would like to see would win a title.

The Lakers are always look for proven stars, Kareem, Shaq, Pau, and the like. They appear to be targeting Paul George and were upset as an organization to miss out on Cousins.

I hate the Lakers but that's swinging for the fences and living in the now and proven.

When we have a 53 win conference Finals team and I hear about keeping our under 20 year old draft picks, it drives me crazy. Why would we not want Paul George or any elite 6 ft 7 wing to go with what we have. Why not Blake or Boogie when we had the shot.

Hayward is the lesser of George/Butler/Hayward imo. Why don't we want the highest shelf guys possible. Does this fan base just love them some underdogs and homegrown guys that much? Our last title run had 3 hall of famers as the stars, it takes a lot of talent to win.

Can I get some light shed here?

Magic, Worthy, Kobe, Jerry West and Elgin Baylor are all Laker's homegrown talent.

Nothing wrong with homegrown talent. It's attachment to marginal talent which is the problem. Outside of IT/Horford/Jaylen, I don't think we should hesitate too much on including anyone in a deal, particularly if it lands us someone of Butler's quality.

Indeed. That's the way I would go as well.
But I would also consider trading one of our undersized guards and Crowder  plus a pick for Butler.

The key is that DANNY AINGE not get too enamored with our homegrown marginal players.

We didn't want any of those guys because of what we would have had to give up, compared to just going after Blake of Hayward as free agents.  And we just plain didn't want to deal with Boogie.

This. Having a mix of Vets and legit young talent makes the future better. Fultz wouldn't have to worry about being the man. Just learning how to play for IT/Hayward/Horford, and learning D from Smart. And probably could get between 10 and 15 a game doing it. What lottery teams have that opportunity.

We want to win now, but with the CAvs and Warriors, it's better to compete now, but develop the future the right way. And when Fultz,Brown and who ever are ready to be the leaders of the team, IT and HAyward will be there to support them. It's how it was done back in the day. You just don't see it anymore.

Because no matter what we do, the Cavs and the Warriors are on another level. If we can’t move the needle past Cleveland, it doesn’t mean anything. Best thing we can do right now is be patient and build through the draft. No need to trade away future assets just for a chance to play a couple more games against Cleveland.
