Assuming Hayward is coming here. Avery is the odd man out. Avery will command 18 million per year if not more.

Avery has missed approximately 160 games in his career. Two full seasons. There is a logjam at guard now, someone has to go.

Crowder will be our defacto PF next year. One question for Salt lover, is if we do move Avery can we bring Yabu over next year and sign Gordon?

In today's NBA. I see zero problems with Having Hayward, Crowder, and Brown on the same team.

We play Horford, Crowder, Bradley, Smart, Thomas together in the most important moments in the playoffs.

Subbing in Hayward or Brown for Avery actually give us more size although not as much foot speed. We have Rozier to help ease Avery's loss.

True professional. Sucks to see him go. Adding Fultz means the End of Bradley's tenure as a Celtic. Love you man. Class act.

The chief reason why I think Bradley will be expendable is that his defense is (again) worse than advertised. This, combined with the durability issues and having to pay him big based on reputation alone next summer will likely spell the end of his time in Boston.

Add a big and hope that Fultz and Brown can replicate the offensive production. Probably what's best for the team.

 Assuming Hayward is coming here.

Big assumption.  We'll have to move some assets around just to present a competitive offer, and then he has to actually want to be here.  I think the chances that we land a major FA - Hayward or Griffin - are probably lower than Cs fans want to believe.

Are you going to spam every thread with this nonsense?

I tend to agree. I think Avery's impending unrestricted free agency and the fact that he can net a better return than Smart as a 2 way guy makes him the best trade option.

I love Avery and he's my favorite Celtic right now, but the writing is on the wall. I just hope he ends up in a great situation. I think Memphis or Minnesota could be a good spot.

I think the strength of our team is our guards and should stay as such though.  just because we are getting fultz doesn't mean we need 2 guards and that's it or even 4.   I want at least 5.

Why do we need hayward?  how many balls are there to go around?  We have IT. Fultz is coming in.  jaylen is coming.

I think the hayward stuff is nonsense right now.

People expecting Ainge to make huge sweeping changes this offseason are missing something.

Some superstars are very overrated. I'm not saying hayward is but honestly Bradley and fultz are probably better players because they play within a system and make the system in ways.

Maybe, but Memphis has nothing to give you, really. I mean, they have exactly zero picks this year and no interesting players... you're going to swap Bradley for a future first? Eh...

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
SL discussed this in another thread today (and many of us have been talking about this very issue for months), but the basic premise is that to sign Hayward and keep KO, Bradley would need to be moved for a pick in a future draft. This would still leave us around $400K short of a max contract, but we can hope that the allure of our team can make up for that. We can also move on from Rozier, but, yikes, seems like something we all would like to avoid.

In this above situation, we would not be able to add Yabusele this season, but can add Zizic. We are all obviously very happy about winning the lottery, but it might have actually worked out better for LAL to get #1 and us #2 since the Lakers seems to want Ball, anyway, and the #2 draft slot would make up for that $400K.

Oh, and I agree with you KGLL - I love Bradley and it will be sad to see him go, but if we can move him for a future asset and sign Hayward/Griffin, that would be the best direction for this team. It also allows us to keep KO.

I like Avery too but agree he's gone. A+ lockerroom guy, A+ celtic but it's time to move on. Smart will start next year and Fultz the year after.

We could probably get between 8-14th pick in this year's draft but Ainge probably wants to spread out some of the contracts so maybe he flips it for an unprotected first next year...

Grizzlies? Mavericks? Pelicans?
