Doc wishes he was in an alternate reality where the Clippers were in the East and Blake Griffin could stay healthy.

If Doc had stayed any longer he would've risked being exposed further as the one-hit wonder that he is and that thanks almost exclusively to the heart and excellence of The Big Three.

He played those guys into the ground which is the chief reason they only won the lone crown. Injuries started taking their fateful toll. KG and Perk going down at such devastating times was a function of overuse. Doc couldn't figure out any other way to get it done. After 08 generally, the Celts were too roster-depleted through injury, playing hurt and/or simply worn out to close out pivotal games in tough playoff series. It hurts to think about what more The Big Three iteration of the Cs could have accomplished if it had been managed better. I believe this was a bigger factor in Ray leaving than anyone is willing to discuss including, to his immense credit, Ray himself.

Doc's basically a good guy if a rather average coach. And, certainly, he is a chronic self-promoter, in a myriad of ways. He got out of Boston while the getting was good. There are plenty of signs that they are already getting hip to his trip in Clipperland.

I was happy to see him hit the road and even happier seeing Brad being given the chance to help Danny in the rebuilding project. What they have accomplished in such a comparatively brief period is something Doc would have been unable to handle on any level. I can hear his memorable excuse-making now.

I am so over Doc, I really like CBS.   I can believe people are still hung up over him.

Pretty much agree.

I can understand the interest in Doc since he coached our last championship team.  What I don't get is the doc hate.  Yeah he moved on, it wasn't like he stole your girlfriend or robbed a bank.  Doc was a good coach for us, he did a good job.  Why are people still so angry at him?

You're right, he didn't steal my girlfriend, but he did rob the Celtics. He left them hanging high and dry just months after signing a 4(?) year extension and talking about how he wanted to be in Boston for the long haul. He then bolted to "greener pastures" as soon as it looked like the Celtics were heading toward some tough times. I actually still like Doc for the most part, but he's a fraud.

In hindsight, Doc leaving was the best thing that could have happened, but we didn't know that at the time. I thought he was loyal, but he turned out to be just another ring chaser.
