HAAAAAAAA!!!!

Maybe I can loan a Clippers fan my "fire Doc" sign.  He/she is going to need it!!

Now that the Celtics have advanced to the eastern Conference Finals, have a top 4 pick this year, potential top 4 pick next year, and max money available for a free agent (hello Blake Griffin), he can't be a happy guy.

In four year since he bailed, the Celtics have accomplished more.  Celtics will win 5 more championships before the Clippers ever sniff one.  I would not be surprised if the Lakers are better in the next few years.

Oh yea, and we have the Clippers pick for Doc leaving.  That should get him canned alone.

While Doc is watching the Celtics face Lebron, he will be wondering what his future holds in a city where the Lakers rule, and players like Griffin and Paul may leave.  They will note waste their years away playing for an organization that has been a laughing stock around the NBA for years.  Besides, they have no chance at beating Golden State or San Antonio in the west for a long time.

I know I can't help but think of this a lot. I have mixed emotions with Doc.  Because I am such an avid and loyal fan I can't imagine being the head coach of the Celtics and ever willingly leaving that position for another team.  I know it's not the same for most coaches as they look at it not from a fan standpoint as much as from how it affects their career as a coach.

He had a chance to become a head coach as well as taking on the role of GM, with a veteran team that could compete right away, but when he left the Celtics there was a part of me that felt like he betrayed the Celtics, again that's me thinking as a fan.  I hate fans that switch teams.  Overall I do think he made a dumb move to leave a franchise with the rich history we have to go to a team like the Clippers and I think he will come to regret it, myself. In the long run I couldn't be happier with his replacement in Brad Stevens, who I think is an incredible coach who is committed to the C's for a long time.

Unfortunate.  I thought he did a pretty good job once KG arrived.  I really didn't want him to leave because the team had been through so many ups and downs.  Looking back, it was really the best thing that could have happened....Go figure.

Now instead of potentally leaving behind a great coaching career, he may be remembered as a one hit wonder.

Doc wishes he was in an alternate reality where the Clippers were in the East and Blake Griffin could stay healthy.

Pretty much agree.

I can understand the interest in Doc since he coached our last championship team.  What I don't get is the doc hate.  Yeah he moved on, it wasn't like he stole your girlfriend or robbed a bank.  Doc was a good coach for us, he did a good job.  Why are people still so angry at him?

If Doc had stayed any longer he would've risked being exposed further as the one-hit wonder that he is and that thanks almost exclusively to the heart and excellence of The Big Three.

He played those guys into the ground which is the chief reason they only won the lone crown. Injuries started taking their fateful toll. KG and Perk going down at such devastating times was a function of overuse. Doc couldn't figure out any other way to get it done. After 08 generally, the Celts were too roster-depleted through injury, playing hurt and/or simply worn out to close out pivotal games in tough playoff series. For a master class on how to extend a veteran star's career check out Pop and the Spurs.

It hurts to think about what more The Big Three iteration of the Cs could have accomplished if it had been managed better. I believe this was a bigger factor in Ray leaving than anyone is willing to discuss including, to his immense credit, Ray himself.

Doc's basically a good guy if a rather average coach. And, certainly, he is a chronic self-promoter, in a myriad of ways. He got out of Boston while the getting was good. There are plenty of signs that they are already getting hip to his trip in Clipperland.

I was happy to see him hit the road and even happier seeing Brad being given the chance to help Danny in the rebuilding project. What they have accomplished in such a comparatively brief period is something Doc would have been unable to handle on any level. I can hear his memorable excuse-making now.

I'm pretty sure Doc would still rather be right where he is, with more money, power, and control than he ever had in Boston.

I am so over Doc, I really like CBS.   I can believe people are still hung up over him.

You're right, he didn't steal my girlfriend, but he did rob the Celtics. He left them hanging high and dry just months after signing a 4(?) year extension and talking about how he wanted to be in Boston for the long haul. He then bolted to "greener pastures" as soon as it looked like the Celtics were heading toward some tough times. I actually still like Doc for the most part, but he's a fraud.

In hindsight, Doc leaving was the best thing that could have happened, but we didn't know that at the time. I thought he was loyal, but he turned out to be just another ring chaser.
