The Lottery CAN be rigged...the way the process is now.

The league assigns numbers to teams in NUMERICAL order--meaning, every combination of numbers the Celtics get tonight, will have at least one or two identical numbers.
in 2007, Wyc stated that all of our combinations had either the #1 or #2 in them.
This is a HUGE problem--because all they have to do is have heavier #1 or #2 balls--keeping teams from winning the lottery. (the balls blow upwards in the machine)

Why on earth do they do a practice drawing, THEN bring in this Locked Box with NEW Ping Pong Balls-?
Under the guise of security--but what if the weighted balls were in the locked box--?

They need to assign the numbers more randomly.

Not saying it is rigged--but it can be, if they wanted to--and nobody would know, not this accounting firm or the people in the room.

There is a separate group of reps that see the actual lottery drawing, but they are not allowed/able to contact anyone else until the results have been made public.  Magic won't know any more than we do

Even if we're #2, I'd feel ecstatic.

Even if LAL/PHO land #1, I think they'd take Ball (or Suns - Jackson) which means we still land Fultz.

If we don't get the first pick, I'd like to see LA (I know, I know) or Phoenix get it. I think LA is destined to pick Ball if he's available, and I could very well see Phoenix taking Ball or Jackson over Fultz. I'm not sure they want Fultz taking ball time away from Booker. But Ball could be an ideal fit next to him setting up his shots, and Jackson would slide into the 3 spot nicely for them.

I don't want Philly, Orlando, or New Orleans getting the first pick, because I think they take Fultz without a doubt.

Hopefully it won't be at all. I'd much rather see Philly get wealthy and resume our rivalry with them than see the Lakers improve their chances to tie us in total titles.

If the lottery is rigged - IF - I think that works in our favor this year.

My "rigged prediction":

Boston #1
LA #2
Phoenix #3

If the fix is in,IMO the league's top objective would be to give the Lakers at top-3 pick so that they keep this year's and the 2019 picks, and have a shot at Ball as well.

Having us #1 insures that there will be plenty of drama leading up to the draft - does Ball scorn the C's and refuse to work out for them? Does Ainge draft Ball anyways just to spite LA, or does he draft Fultz and create a long-term rivalry between the two players?

Keeping Boston at #1 and Phoenix at #3 also means the draft order is relatively unchanged, which makes it appear more legitimate. Phoenix might be annoyed, but they won't be THAT mad if they drop a slot.

Boston on the other hand has had terrible luck in the lottery and is due for a break. It also gives us more leverage to trade the pick for a superstar to become a contender. The league needs more good teams to challenge the Warriors and Cavs, and the big-market C's would be a nice addition to the fold.

So it works for everybody!
