Well the ping pong balls belonged to the Nets so any previous bad luck with Celtics ping pong balls has no effect on this outcome :)

Seems like every time I run the lottery simulator, we end up at #4.  So that's what I'm expecting.  As for getting #1 two out of ten, that's right where you would expect it (given a 25% chance).

Bottom line is I am not getting my hopes up at all.

Here is Danny Ainge, lying again, IMO.

“We’d like to get as high a pick as possible, but I do think that it’s pretty good at the top of the draft — just not a clear-cut favorite or best player at this stage,” said Ainge. “But I think that the best player in this draft down the road could come anywhere from 1 through 10.

I don't think he actually believes that Fultz isn't the cream of the crop. Just trying to keep the other teams guessing.

I kind of believe Ainge here since he's talking long term. Guys like Monk, Isaac, and Dennis Smith would probably be top 5 picks in other years.

Nah, we already took the pick so "technically", the pick is ours.

And I just ran the lottery simulator 50 times.  Here is the breakdown:

#1 - 13 times (26%)
#2 - 9 times (18%)
#3 - 7 times (14%)
#4 - 21 times (42%)

So yeah, I am fully expecting the #4 pick tonight.  Anything higher would be gravy.

If Celtics miss out on Fultz, do they pick Ball? Knowing his father is less than stable, and the kid dreams about the Lakers. Just a thought.

The lotto isnt rigged.

If it were tho:

Lakers and Celtics are #1 and #2 without any doubt whatsoever.

Then either Philly or NYK fills in at #3.

Boy, would that add fuel to the conspiracy fire. I'm with you on this, though: the lotto isn't rigged. Just look at freaking Minnesota landing a transcendent star at #1 while the Lakers got stuck with D'Angelo Russell.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I dont think the 2 factors you mention will have much effect on whether or not we pick him.

If we dont pick Ball it will have more to do with his on the court flaws than anything else.

Honestly Lakers Celtics 1-2 then Philly or NYK at 3 would be great for the league.

those are 4 big market teams with a lot of history.

If I was a completely biasless fan, Id probably want LA-NYK-Philly-Boston.

That way all 4 franchises get a top 4 pick. LA and NYK get centerpieces and Philly gets another awesome piece to vault them back into contention. Boston doesnt need the pick as much as the others but it still gets a top 4 pick which should be good enough to bump them from pretender to contender in the next two or 3 years.

I expect top 3, would be disappointed with #4. By your numbers, we have a 58% of getting top 3. So I'm okay with that but of course I  want #1  8)

I'd be happy with Fultz, Jackson, or Tatum.  Top 3 would assure that so I'm in the same place as you.  Even at #4 we would likely still get one of those but my nightmare scenario is ending up at #4 and having only Ball left.  His father is a nonissue for me.  I'm mostly concerned that he doesn't have the offense needed to be a star.

58% chance for Top 3 sounds good! And yeah, I guess the balls are for the C's but it still doesn't feel the same when it's an exercised pick swap.

they don't do too badly in the lottery.
#1 twice - Derrick Coleman and Kenyon Martin
#2 once - Kenny Anderson
#3 once - Jaylen Brown (who's all ours)
that's just off the top of my head.
