I'm not buying for one second that Marcus is the better ball handler. Maybe up the court maybe. Not in a half court.

Lol.
A guy who takes it in for the layup and ends up looking like an ostrich that got tripped isn't a good ball handler.

Avery is generally the better ball handler. Maybe not the better playmaker.
I disagree. Smart doesnt need to be a good ballhandler to be better than Avery Bradley.
He needs to be a lot of things to be better than Avery
sure but he doesn't need to be anything to be a better ball handler than ab. Hes already got that box checked.
Have you ever seen Smart dribble right past a good defender into the paint and then get it past yet another decent defender to get it in the basket? Avery is a million times more likely to do that. Because he's the better ball handler.
nah, that's cuz AB has terrific explosion. if he had a half-competent handle he could create his own shot with ease. He doesn't have a good handle so all his offense comes from cuts and screens... because he can't dribble the ball.

I remember when Avery was younger and they would have him try to bring the ball up the court and run some point.  As soon as the opposing coach saw Bradley was going to be bringing the ball up the other team would start pressuring him full court and Bradley was like a deer in headlights.  He was so bad at it that I was genuinely embarrassed for him.  He knew the other team smelled blood when he dribbled the ball.

He's still a very bad ball handler but now he doesn't get put into positions that make it so obvious.  Smart is a far better ball handler.

That last option is for the clinically insane....uh.....I mean uniquely thoughtful.

I didn't vote because they are completely different players and if you can't see that you are insane.
Well one is a guard that is pretty good and one is a guard that's not that good and I can definitely see how some people would see that as completely different.

If Smart became like Bradley along with the added "hustle/winning plays", then there's no question we'd have an all star on this team.

Unfortunately, I say no.

Smart may be able to average 15 PPG at best. Not seeing anything higher.

Marcus has the better ball handle, he's also a much better passer, Marcus can defend 3 positions, and at times 4. His intangibles are better too.

Avery is a fine defender too, and a much better shooter.

Will Marcus ever be as good as Avery is now...he'll be as valuable someday.

Bradley broke out in year four to 15ppg. Bradley shoots a better % from the floor, but Smart is the more well rounded player in year three.

 Avery
 9.2 ppg 2.2 rpg 2.1 apg 1.3 SPG

 Smart
 10.6 ppg 3.9 rpg 4.6 APG 1.6 spg

If Smart can get his 3p% back to where it was his rookie year .335% we could see him go for.

15ppg 6apg 5rpg 1.8spg Keep Smart around and keep hoping that all the three he's already taken Somehow helps him become a better shooter.

I think its a bit unfair to Avery to take his stats from his third year. Remember that he missed the first two months of the 2012-13 season due to recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. And then not even at the mid-way point of the season, he was forced to play out of position as a point guard under Doc once Rondo went down for the year with the ACL tear.

One is a PG and one is SG, typically that's a different position in basketball but hey you do you.

I doubt he will ever be as good offensively. Bradley was known to have a good jumper in college and it took some time and confidence for him to start hitting shots with ease.

I don't think smart will be able to ever be able to shoot like avery. I mean he still averages a pretty poor shooting percentage.

Smart subs out Avery all the time till Avery comes back in to sub out Smart. They're not so incredibly different. Defensive guards under 6ft 4. Not that different

I am not sure Smart will ever be as good as Bradley is now and I believe Bradley is going to get even better. He comes back from every off season as a better ball player with some part of his game much better than it used to be. Bradley still hasn't reached his peak as a player, IMHO.

I couldn't say 'definitely' so voted 'probably not'. Whatever the comparison of individual skills I agree with those who argued that the things that AB is better at are more influential on a game.

I don't believe that it is impossible though that Smart starts hitting his shots more consistently and gets above 15ppg. He is confident in so many other aspects of his game and has shown he can get on a streak. Stranger things have happened. Sooner the better though for Smart.

This is so true. I cannot remember ever tracking a player who has steadily made improvements every single year. Danny Ainge is going to have some difficult decisions to make, particularly if they land Fultz.

Yep.  Avery has improved more this year at his older age than Smart has.  Avery is improving more rapidly.

But I would say that Smart is better today than Avery was at the same age.
