He'll never be as good of a shooter as Bradley but he's already a better ballhandler and playmaker and he's more versatile on defense.

Avery has always been much more raw than Marcus. Bradley's elite athleticism and smooth jumper, made his path to improvement more obvious than Smart's.

diffrent players... AB is a shooting guard and Smart is a point guard. So i don't think that we can really compare them. Overall probably AB is better but AB is a better guard and Smart is a better playmaker, i think that's the most fair comparison

Smart is better than Avery in some things, but the things Avery is better at have a larger impact on the game in my opinion.  In terms of defense, it's pretty close so we'll just call that a wash (I feel like Bradley is better on the ball, but Marcus is more of an "intangible" guy) but when it comes to offensively I think they are worlds apart. Marcus might be a better ball handler / playmaker than Avery, but the point is Avery puts the ball in the basket and that means points.  I guess my question is moving forward in the future with potentially a Markelle Fultz in the lineup and possibly a big time signing, who would you rather have?  I'd like someone who can get the ball in the basket.  If we get Fultz, keep IT and somehow sign someone like Hayward, I'd rather Avery because we will have plenty of ball handling and play making between IT, Fultz, Horford, and a Hayward type.  Marcus unfortunately makes me cringe when he shoots it (same for Jae)

Smart played SG his entire life, until he started to switch over to PG.


I do agree though, AB is a better guard, but Smart is a better play maker.

I  disagree. Avery always had a nice jumper. He just needed to extend the range on it to the 3 point line and learn how to get his shot. The jumper itself was always much smoother than Marcus's.

To be fair, averys shooting when he came into the league had less to do with his shot than it did nerves.  Avery came in with a reputation as a pod shooter. 

As for the question, it's a hell no from me.  I've said from the beginning that you can't point to a single offensive skill that Marcus is even average in.  Not a one.  Too much to overcome for him to ever be an effective offensive player.

In terms of defense, Marcus may be more versatile, but Avery is a much better on ball defender (which is what you want at guard).  Marcus is wildly overrated by Celtic fans as an on ball defender.
