To beat the Warriors and Cavs these added "scorers" will need to be superstars, and more than one of them.

I've been watching those teams play and they are WAAAAAy ahead of us.

As a team we are not close right now.

I don't even know if a PG-13 and a Jimmy butler will be nearly enough. We need to do what Red Auerbach and Jerry West did and create a dynasty from the bottom up with some generational talent mixed in.

This core of vets will never get it done.

That scorer was supposed to be Kevin Durant and he would have been enough (because KD>>>PG-13>Butler).

It didn't work out (obviously), so now Ainge is stuck with a bunch of spare parts.  As a result, instead of Horford being the perfect complementary piece, he becomes the thing that DA did to carry team interest over to the next generation, not a piece of the championship puzzle.

This is nothing new.   We already knew the Celtics needed another star level player. 



The dream scenario is drafting Fultz, signing Hayward and trading one of the guards not named IT (and probably Crowder being replaced by Hayward and Brown) for a good big man.
