I think you keep one of Smart or Crowder.  Both are gritty defenders but mediocre shooters.  Both have some value (Crowder more for his bargain contract) to bring back a shooter.

I for one am sick of the Crowder era, I think he has been exposed in these playoffs.  To those who thought he was a top ten forward, that is laughable at present.

Have to agree with the Crowder comment. This is why you try to bring in a Gordon Heyward. Crowder is the prototypical 3-and-D guy, a great player to have on the team, especially at that price, but when he's not making the threes, he does virtually nothing else to help the offense. Can't create his own shot, can't finish at the basket and absolutely, positively cannot make anything off the dribble.

TP to the OP for the good thread.  I generally agree, but to play devil's advocate I bet when other teams watch us when we're winning they think "why can't we get scrappy good guys like crowder (6 of 8 in 3's the first game), jerekbo, etc.".

This team definitely needs more talent on the offensive side of the ball.  You can just tell watching the mechanics of Crowder & Smart that they won't ever reach good levels of 3pt% shooting.  Bradley's offensive shot has capped out, but I admire how much he's improved.

Ultimately no-one can create their own shot except for IT, and no-one on this team can overpower the opponent in a pick & roll.  I think that's what we're missing the most... think Butler backing down IT, etc.  Could you imagine if we had gotten Demarcus Cousins?  Our offense (and defense) would enormously different/better.  I'm not knocking not getting him, but that's the type of player we physically/skillset need the most.

I'll be happy to see Crowder/Olynk/Jerekbo/Amir/Zeller and possibly a few others replaced by players who have some defined dominate skill or attribute.

TP, I couldn't agree more.  Smart can be maddening, but he plays [dang] hard and has a defined skill

Are we seriously counting green and Browns stats during garbage time as if it means anything at all?  Completely meaningless stats right there.

Well I believe in our team, let's watch the remaining two games before saying "X isn't a top 10 guy in his position". Put some faith into the Celtics

This summer we will add a top four draft pick plus a quality free agent.
We need to get bigger.
Little guys get their teeth knocked out in the playoffs.

So I'm wondering what value they have after this series? I mean, they have been both been awful, not bad, but awful. Smart makes a few great plays every game, but certainly not enough to make up for his terrible offense. Not only can't he shoot, but he's turning the ball over at an alarming rate. And, I've been watching and to be honest, I don't find him to be great at defending guards one on one that great. If I were choosing, I'm keeping Bradley now.
Crowder is just a non-factor. I'm okay with him coming off the bench, but he's just not playing very well on either side of the court.
I'm really wondering what their value is, as I believe they were both have been exposed in the playoffs.

I can't seem to settle down after this game. Can't get over these numbers:Bradley, Smart, Crowder 4-26 and Rozier, Brown, Green 7-15. We have some scorers on our bench that need to play. On a 23 to 0 run you maybe insert a scorer and take out Marcus Smart and Crowder. Maybe you sit Bradley if he's hurt, like he looks like he is. I mean in a game like this where you're just straight losing try something different.

Brad's been struggling mightily with the in game adjustments if you ask me.  He is smart, I think he will get better at it.  Right now that 20+ point run with no timeout was concerning as well.
It seems like Brad is reluctant to play guys like Brown and Green because of defensive concerns but if my memory is correct that 26-0 run last night happened with mostly starters on the floor. And it's been those starters that have given up huge leads in the first quarters (game 4, the only exception).

If the starters aren't going to play with energy, I want to see more Jaylen. Jerebko is streaky but he played 2 minutes last night and had 2 rebounds. If the main rotation guys aren't playing, yank them. If defense is what earns minutes, none of the starters are earning theirs right now.

Wall and Beal are a problem for Boston because Thomas can't hide defensively (and he can't handle Porter's size at all).  It has always been the problem with Thomas, this isn't some new thing.

Crowder was sickening to watch last night. He didn't put his hand up on defense, he switched on quicker guards as if he could stay in front of them only to get beat off the dribble, his short t-Rex arms caused him to half heartedly stop a fast break ending in a 3 point play, and he was bricking his usual 3s. Coach Brad believes in certain guys way too much. I like Crowder, but off the bench would be better for this team. Otto Porter makes Crowder a shell of himself with his quickness and length. It's time to go Brown. But it wouldn't surprise me to see coach go Jerebco instead, which makes me even sicker to my stomach   ::)

Yeah, I really thought Green would be a great bench scorer for Boston this season, but alas ...

And yeah, it seems like Danny's averse to offense.

Green scored 8 points in 10 minutes tonight....

Yes, and that was great. Just makes me wonder why Brad doesn't turn to him more often, or earlier in games when it's clear the team needs offensive punch.
Hes got no idea what he is doing on defense and when he isnt hot, he is basically useless on offense.

He is a desperation move. When all else fails throw in gerald and maybe hell get hot and pull 15 points out of his ass.

Well, most of the team doesn't seem to know what they're doing on defense, and most of those same guys stink on offense, so Stevens may as well try Green earlier—if he's hot, great; if not, he's no worse than the others.

I really love Crowder but it's true that he can't stay on quicker guards. So when the lineup gets shuffled around like it has to because Thomas can't stay on either of Washington's guards, Crowder just isn't capable of making that move.

Which is part of why I've been crying about Jaylen Brown's minutes all series. Put him on Beal and slide Crowder down to PF so IT can "hide" on Porter. I like Crowder on Morris more than on Beal, for sure.

Brad did call a timeout after they scored 11 straight or 3 minutes(of play) after they started the run and called another 2.5 minutes after the first timeout. He subbed marcus for Amir and nothing changed. So yea brad is a part of it but I blame the starters, including IT. During that time there so many turnovers and poor offensive sets. They looked like it was their first time playing together while the Wizards were running on all cylinders.
