  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Mark Jackson and Van Gundy said that Olynyk flopped to 'sell' the shove by Oubre in game 3.

What are people's thoughts on this?

I didn't think he flopped, I thought he just got caught off guard by the shove, but I've seen some random fans on RealGM and SBnation saying adamantly that he flopped.

Thoughts?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yeah but it should have been a suspension regardless.

I agree with you - didn't think KO had a chance to brace for the contact.

how can that have been a flop if the game was paused? The ball wasn't in play, so how could olynyk, by definition of a flop, be trying to draw a personal foul ?

Also by definition of a flop, a flop requires "little or no contact." I think everyone can agree there was more than just a little contact by oubre.

Well said, only a salty non-Celtic fan would argue that Kelly flopped there.  Pretty cool that we may be the only SBNation forum, and get continued attention from other fanbases, though.

true. I noticed a lot of salty fans of other teams on espn comments for the article o the suspension, people calling olynyk dirty. These people obviously know nothing about olnyk. Oubre is the dirty one

dirty and flop are two different things, whether or not he flopped on the flagrant is really not relevant to the intent of the perp.

No.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

You can never really know.

Im gonna say no for 4 reasons.

1. Kelly is really clumsy, Im not surprised he goes down in any circumstance
2. oubre hits him pretty high up. Its not unreasonable for him to hit the floor. its not like he got hit in the midsection and just decided let his legs fold like a lot of guys do.
3. He gets right back up. Guys who really flop, usually make a show of it. Olynyk was p---ed and immediately went back and Oubre.
4. If you really slow the video down, Olynyk's left leg appears to get stepped on by the ref, and he attempts to stick his right leg back to stay up. Hes not able to plan the foot and he goes down.

Obviously its possible he flopped, but Oubre IS 6'7" 200+ pounds and charging from ~10 feet away.

Even if Olynyk sold the whole thing, I think an ejection was the right call and a suspension within reason.

I can see why it looked like a flop. Reason why is because he fell straight down. He didn't stagger backwards and fall. He didn't flail his arms as he fell. He fell like a log, the way you normally would when taking a charge.

That said, I don't think it was a flop. Taking charges does not equate to a flop.

By definition it wasn't a flop because it wasn't a basketball play.

No way you can flop when you are pushed not expecting it.

For those who say he flopped, I'm sending help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_law_of_universal_gravitation

Yeah -- his play acting made sure Oubre got ejected.

Dude falls all the time. I'm pretty sure his fall was legit.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
