Is that even possible? In the trade machine it works with Blake and Reddick.

Not that Horford is bad, he's just older, and if Doc is going to lose Blake anyway at least he can get something Back.

After we trade Horford I doubt any top free agent will be very happy to sign with us

Yeah. The line around the league will be " Sure, sign with Boston, those guys will trade your mama!"

Blake Griffin is not young, and has a horrendous injury history that in my mind makes him a 30+ year old.

agreed, trading away the #2 free agent a year after signing him will likely severely damage the franchise's ability to lure top players for quite a while --> would need a major shake-up in the front office to get players to consider Boston again.

As others have said, the premise of this thread is faulty. You can only trade Horford at his request or you're done with elite free agents.

Keep Horford, sign Blake.
Play Fultz and Brown in the back court.
Fultz, Brown, Crowder, Blake, and Horford.

Blake has bad knees and isn't as explosive anymore. I'll pass on giving him a 4-5 year max.

People jump at giving an oft injured Griffin a max deal but hesitate when it comes to doing the same for IT. SMH.

Griffin missed 85 regular season games in the last 3 season. So it's like he played 2 seasons instead 3. No max deal for that kind of player

Amare Stoudemire averaged 25ppg at age 28 (Blake's age now).

Three years later he was down to 12ppg

He also was a subpar defensive big with a mediocre jumper and bad knees.

Blake could easily follow a similar trajectory

I would be very wary

This particular trade is impossible. The trade has to happen in year 2017-18 time frame and if Blake opts out, then both he and Reddick are free agents and so not in the Clippers control and so can't be traded for. I guess a sign and trade would be possible, but as others have stated, trading Horford so soon after signing him when he hasn't asked to be traded would kill the Celtics chances with future free agents signing with the team.
