So, sort of off topic, but does the Nets playing so well now, concern any of you about 2018 pick? Kind of figured they'd suck next year too, but now, I'm not so sure.
The Sixers went on a 5-5 "hot streak" a couple years back. Then they followed it up with one of the worst seasons in NBA history.
There's a reason just about every sports book had the Nets ranked last in the NBA in projected wins last offseason.
Their roster is pitiful.
A month of decent ball doesn't change that.
If anything, it shows that effort alone can win some games in the NBA regular season.
Note that the Nets' "hot streaks" came at the beginning then at the end of the season. At the beginning, the Nets were full of hope, and were playing hard. Other teams were slightly disorganized due to roster turnover/getting back into the NBA groove. A prime time to steal some wins.
Then other teams get their act together, and the Nets go on a historic slump.
The end of the season finally rolls around, and a lot of teams have zero to play for. Now the Nets, incredibly demoralized, have an opportunity to make themselves feel good from exploiting bad/lazy basketball from burnt-out teams.
I doubt Shawn Marks believes in this mirage, if he's smart he dumps Lin and Lopez for any picks they can get and builds through youth.
They will plummet back to earth next year.
