Lakers last 4 games:
@San antonio
vs Sacto
vs Minny
vs NO
@ Golden State

Those three middle games are all possible wins. And who knows about that last game against the Warriors, the Dubs could easily rest all their starters for that one. I think the Lakers take at least one of those final five games.

The Suns have an easier task, tank-wise:
vs Golden State
vs OKC
vs Dallas
@Sacto

of those, 4 Sacto and Dallas are possible wins.

then the Nets:

@Orl
vs CHicago
@Bos
@Chicago

Highly likely that the nets stay on bottom... then probably the Suns, then the Lakers at #3
yeah, we are safe :)
Hopefully were the double whammy that does them in after Chicago, don't wanna jinx us by calling it a win lol

Nah,  If past history is anything to go off,  we have a better shot at #1 from the #2 position!

I don't see any situation where a top three pick puts us "in trouble"

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
if we have the 4th pick Tatum may have more potential than the other 3. But getting the No. 1 pick will be sweet. Hopefully some team will trade for Lopez so they will suck next year too.

I could easily see Lakers and Suns losing all remaining games andBrooklyn winning 3/4 in which case would be a 3 way tie and we could slip to 6th pick. Would totally suck but could happen.

Brooklyn is playing really well now.

So, sort of off topic, but does the Nets playing so well now, concern any of you about 2018 pick? Kind of figured they'd suck next year too, but now, I'm not so sure.

The Sixers went on a 5-5 "hot streak" a couple years back. Then they followed it up with one of the worst seasons in NBA history.

There's a reason just about every sports book had the Nets ranked last in the NBA in projected wins last offseason.

Their roster is pitiful.

A month of decent ball doesn't change that.

If anything, it shows that effort alone can win some games in the NBA regular season.

Note that the Nets' "hot streaks" came at the beginning then at the end of the season. At the beginning, the Nets were full of hope, and were playing hard. Other teams were slightly disorganized due to roster turnover/getting back into the NBA groove. A prime time to steal some wins.

Then other teams get their act together, and the Nets go on a historic slump.

The end of the season finally rolls around, and a lot of teams have zero to play for. Now the Nets, incredibly demoralized, have an opportunity to make themselves feel good from exploiting bad/lazy basketball from burnt-out teams.

I doubt Shawn Marks believes in this mirage, if he's smart he dumps Lin and Lopez for any picks they can get and builds through youth.

They will plummet back to earth next year.

"easily"?  no, just no.  if they win 1 of those 3 I'd be surprised.

Who have their own justifiable reasons for losing at the moment.

In the sense that they might not be the worst team in the league next year? Yes.

In the sense that the pick might not be in the lottery? No. The nice thing about the way the Eastern Conference is right now, is that there is this first tier of teams with homecourt, a bottom tier of teams with no hope this season, and a big middle tier of teams trying to make the playoffs. Barring a shocking free agent move, Brooklyn will still have a talent deficit to all of these teams in the middle. It's not like a couple of seasons ago when it seemed like every team that wasn't a contender was tanking.

As long as that middle class stays pretty robust (I can imagine the Bulls and/or Pacers deciding to blow it up) Brooklyn will still have a hard path to getting anywhere near the playoffs.

But that does mean that we might be looking at a top 10 pick instead of a top 3 pick.

The Bulls are playing really well right now so I expect them to win at least one of those if not both. We should also win our matchup with them, obviously.

So that's 2-3 more losses, regardless of what LAL/PHX does with their remaining games.

I'm not worried.

Yes, but so did the Lakers when they took down Minny and Memphis at home.  Just pointing out that the Nets have 4 games that they will be underdogs in.

On a separate note, imagine if the Lakers HAD NOT beaten Minny and Memphis.  Whew.
