I'm personally not high on either unless we're getting a super-bargain price, but just out of curiosity, who would people rather have?
Jimmy Butler (3 years remaining at ~18m/y + player option)
- More dynamic scorer. Much better at slashing to the basket/drawing fouls
- Better playmaker, but holds the ball quite a bit.
- More athletic, much better offensive rebounder
- Probably a better guard defender. Can only be played at 2 or 3.
Paul George (2 years remaining at ~19m/y + player option that he's almost certain to decline)
- Much better outside shooter
- Less ball dominant, can be used as spot-up shooter
- Bigger and longer, slightly better defensive rebounder
- More versatile defender (can guard PFs), can be put into rotation anywhere between 2~4
I'm torn a bit personally. I feel like George would be a much better fit for the team (can space the floor while IT has the ball, we already have enough good guard defenders), but Butler is probably the better overall player, is under contract for longer, and has a slightly lower salary that would make it at least plausible for us to put together max cap space this summer if we really wanted to assuming we send long-term salary (AB + Brown) the other way in the trade.
