There is nothing the Lakers can offer that we can't beat. Its just a question of whether or not Ainge wants Butler enough.

Ingram, russell, randle, clarkson 2017 1st

From rumor source
Quote
the Duke product would not be involved in this trade for Butler nor would D’Angelo Russell, via Adamle:
You sure?

Is anyone when looking at just rumors from one source?

If the Lakers get Butler for whatever they have to offer after Cousins goes to the Pels for a poo-poo-platter, it's gonna be dark days around here.

Here it comes everybody.

"Jimmy Butler traded to the Lakers for 2017 Pick, Clarkson, 2 second rounders and Jose Calderon" (fake idea)

I give Danny a pass for not making the Cousins deal or being in the talks, but I swear if Butler gets traded to someone for another underwhelming price, I might actually flip..

If LA gets Butler, this forum will explode ... And the fire Danny chant would get louder
If LA get Butler than I will change my opinion on Butler, and from that point on he would be Just 'OK' player, borderline star, a slight upgrade over Crowder.

This has no possibility to happen this way. Let's be more serious even with hypothesis.

Lakers Rumors: L.A. Engaged In Trade Talks With Bulls For Jimmy Butler

The Los Angeles Lakers weren’t willing to part ways with rookie Brandon Ingram to make a trade with the Sacramento Kings for DeMarcus Cousins. In the aftermath of Cousins trade talks breaking down, the Lakers may have turned their attention to trying to acquire Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls.

- ongoing discussion. Bulls have reportedly also begun talking with Lakers, after LAL's failed trade talks with SAC. Ingram is NOT involved.

Unlike the deal for Cousins in which the Kings insisted on receiving Ingram in exchange, the Duke product would not be involved in this trade for Butler nor would D’Angelo Russell, via Adamle:

REPORT: Butler is involved in the LAL - Bulls trade talk. Lou Williams, Jordan Clarkson, & Julius Randle have been brought up - MCW as well.

It's top 3 protected, but you are basically right. Based on percentages, it is unlikely to belong to LAL and PHI will indeed get the pick.

So, with no high lottery pick and no Ingram/Russell, wth does LA have to offer that we can't beat with the BKN pick and Amir/filler or Avery/Crowder/non-BKN picks?

No matter what happens, I will not be that bummed - have always kind-of been pinning my hopes of using on cap space for Hayward (or Griffin) this summer. If that (or something similarly impactful) doesn't materialize, then we will all have to realize that a full youth movement may soon be on the horizon.

Of course, Danny don't want Butler.  He's got bad hair.

Butler does not move the needle.

Neither is our current sorry squad.  Which is why we should've traded for Cousins.

The thing is, even if LA keeps their pick, they still can't trade it, because then Philly gets a pick in 2018 and they can't have no first round picks in consecutive future years.  And if they lose their pick, then they can't trade the 2018 instead (conditionally) because that would a) still be trading consecutive future picks, and b) if they lose their 1st this year, then they owe a 1st to Orlando in 2019.  So the earliest pick they can trade is in 2020 ((if they keep this year's pick) and 2021 (if Philly gets it.)

But if the Lakers get Butler without giving up Ingram or Russell, and having no picks to offer, I will be cranky.  I'm not even completely in on getting Butler, but that would be ridiculous if the LA  walked away with that bargain.
