The Los Angeles Lakers weren’t willing to part ways with rookie Brandon Ingram to make a trade with the Sacramento Kings for DeMarcus Cousins. In the aftermath of Cousins trade talks breaking down, the Lakers may have turned their attention to trying to acquire Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls.

- ongoing discussion. Bulls have reportedly also begun talking with Lakers, after LAL's failed trade talks with SAC. Ingram is NOT involved.

Unlike the deal for Cousins in which the Kings insisted on receiving Ingram in exchange, the Duke product would not be involved in this trade for Butler nor would D’Angelo Russell, via Adamle:

I agree. But still think DA will do nothing mid season and wait draft and free agency. But what is interesting about this is that the price for stars is getting lower. Kings got little for Cousins and now it seems like Bulls are also lowering their price. Because last year they wouldn't even start talking with the Lakers.

Is that some new trend around GM's? Not willing to give up huge packages for stars?

Hope Lakers get him. He will suffer there. Plus that proposed package if true should tell Danny the Bulls are double dealing. Why is Ingram off the table but Brown must be included. I think Brown is showing to be a better NBA prospect by now. I doubt Danny would trade Brown for Ingram.

The only people clamoring for that right now are people who disagree with Danny.  Nothing tangible that Danny has done recently warrants him getting fired.  This team is 17 games above .500 at the moment, a 2 seed in the east, and almost assured of having a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft. 

He's not gonna get fired for sitting on the sidelines of silly season.

Or a great way to get the Celtics to pay more.   We will just trade him to the Lakers for a lesser amount.
