He had what 8 steals yesterday... That is ridiculous.

He has to be in the conversation of making the all defensive team right? At least 2nd team

Yes.  If he is not All-Defense this season the honor has no meaning.

He should be more than "in the discussion" for all defensive team, he should be a lock.  The real question is whether or not he's in the discussion for DPOY (I don't think he is, but could he pull an AB and be the top guard for DPOY voting?)
I'm bitter.

He may get a few votes

I think he'll make all-defensive second team this year.  As for DPOY, I don't know how feasible that will ever be given that you have to be an all-star level player to win it these days.

Great words from a great man

I can't think of anyone better defensively that I've seen who isn't a shot blocker than Smart.  The Glove maybe for on ball pressure.  I caught DJ when he came to Boston but he wasn't the defensive player Smart is.  And for Smart to do this in this era when you can't hand check... amazing.  Plus Payton couldn't go shut down a Paul Milsap, or switch on to a 6'10" Saric and keep him from getting the ball in the post.

I used to say every game I see Smart do something defensively I've never seen before, but now I think I've seen him do it all, although it is none-the-less still amazing.

He's got the best hands I've seen in a long, long time. The mid-air snatches he makes seemingly every game along with his ability to deflect and swipe the ball is really amazing.

Can't wait for Bradley to come back and create absolute havoc on opposing guards.

I think he's a lock for the defensive team and will get votes for DPOY.

I've been watching Celtic basketball for more years than I'd like to admit...I've never watched a player that is able to come up with big defensive plays like Marcus since... dare I say, since the days of a young Bill Russell, and Gary Payton.

Some of us on this site saw something special in him at the very beginning. For me, it culminated the night a totally frustrated Demarcus Cousins had to throw him to the floor to escape his relentless defensive attack. For me, that was insight to what was to come. Fasten your belts, he's gonna get better.

In my book, if anyone suggests that trading Marcus Smart is a good more, they should have Tommy Points taken away from them.

for me, for some reason, what made me wanted the Celtics to draft Smart, was that incident where he shoved a fan when he was in Oklahoma State. I saw a huge fire in him that I didn't see in other players drafted that year.

Smart and Draymond Green... Best hands

I wonder if smart and bradley both being great defenders and being on same team will hurt each or one of them?

He deserves first team. He might not have the clout yet to get it, but he deserves it.

Draymond Green is still pretty freaking impressive and versatile, but Smart is quickly becoming the guard version of him.

Green, Leonard, and Smart are probably in. After that, it's probably Chris Paul (still really good, but trending down) and Rudy Gobert.
