I agree with this premise. I guess one indication would be if Crowder is moved at the trade deadline to land a big man, clearing space for Haywood this summer.
I still say do a small minor deal...Bogut or Cauley-Stein and then keep the pick, sign a FA. If the pick isn't the 1st pick you can always dangle it for a 2nd tier player.
WCS is exactly the person I was thinking about also.
Like maybe WCS and Casspi(expiring too) for Crowder.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=z3578xe I think Sac does it as they need a SF if they are truly wanting to make a playoff run and re-sign Boogie.
I am worried how trading Crowder mid season would affect the team chemistry...especially if it was to get Hayward in the long term. Would that send a bad message to players???
This year roster:
PG: IT4/Smart/Rozier
SG: Bradley/Smart
SF: Casspi(when healthy), Brown, Green
PF: Horford/KO/JJ
C: WCS/AJ
Next year go after Hayward:
IT4/Bradley/Hayward/Hordford/WCS
