I wish I could give everyone who said he doesnt need to shoot 3's about 50 tommy points. My goodness. 3s have become a drug that people just cant resist to the point where Blake Griffin wouldnt fit in cus people think he needs to shoot 3s.
He might not need to shoot 3's but the ability to shoot is an unequivocal plus. If he can't shoot, that limits his value on the court. That's been true forever, and with the way NBA defense works now, it's more important than its ever been.

Exactly.  Versatility is key, and the ability to shoot 3's allows you to do things like post Horford and pull the opposition Center away from the basket.

I'm finding it interesting that the Celtics have all these stash players that will be deserving of attention and playing time next year. Throw in Justin Brown, plus we have a very high draft pick this year that can't, or shouldn't be stashed.

It's gonna be a competitive summer league, and pre-season for sure. Honestly we're talking about some 4 or 5 players that will be looking to step-up to the parent club.

We're also talking about being active in free agency this summer. I was just thinking that this Celtic team could look very different this time next year. Even if we don't make a big trade for an established star, we're in for an interesting ride.

We'll see if that's true. I'm optimistic but Zizic will still only be 20 when he comes over next year and the NBA is an entirely different animal. I doubt he'll be in line for a serious role as a rookie. With Yabu, it's even less likely.

The Žižić vs Zubac duel is something I really hope to see for years to come.
Two Croatian kids that grew more than their peers, possibly lacing it up for the two of the most storied franchises and going at each other.
Cro dream  :)
Go Ante!

A bit off topic, but I sure hope so.
We could have an NBA level frontcourt in a few years.
Centers: Žižić, Zubac, Hamilton (BKN, his mother has Croatian roots)
Power forwards: Šarić, Bender
Small forward: B. Bogdanović, Hezonja (I am still hopeful 21 y/o)

ATM, Ante is out of Petrovićs, national head coach, favor.
That came after he promised to Aleksandar Petrović (Dražens older brother, ex-player) that he will not participate in NBA pre-draft workouts, but did it anyway. He said to him that he is injured and would only talk to teams.

zizic-being led by smart ,jalen, rozier crowder in the gym-this guy has wide shoulders and a good base to pack on muscle
maybe they can increase his vertical and lateral
look at the effort porzingis put in  and the results
even brown talks about man strength
-the european food portions are miniscule
zizic will be in food heaven
-porzingis marveled at training facilities

can anybody comment on drills and conditioning results after a player comes up from college or europe
can they increase vertical or target lateral and increase speed
look at crowder workout, jimmy butler or jalen in gym at 5:00 in morning
zizic is only recently 20-

Rollie, I'm skeptical that he will increase his vertical jump much at all, and his inherent quickness is not likely to change much. But with a 9'3" standing reach, I don't think that his vertical is important.  Look at Cousins, who does not have much vertical, but is very long, and uses his body well to box out.  Ditto Kendrick Perkins.  I just don't think it is a big deal. I agree with you that he has the frame to really fill out well. He just looks like he has an NBA type body.

Don't know about Hezonja, but that certainly had the makings of a very good team.

As for Zizic, I wouldn't be surprised if he would be the top center in this year's draft. Markkanen projects to be a PF based on his outside game.

Yeah, I concur.  I really am not at all concerned about his vertical.  He already plays well above the rim.   He's long and gets up and down the floor quickly and is already very strong with room to pack on more muscle.

I have zero doubts or concerns about Zizic physically.  He's built to be an NBA center.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

We are desperate for this kind of big. Horford, Amir and Olynyk are finesse guys. They are Davids against Goliath when we face the behemoths. Perkins did that kind of dirty work which allowed KG to maximize his overall skill set.

Jerebko is basically our only pure power forward and the rest are hybrids. We are missing a pure five.

Olynyk looks tough but with dinosaur hands. I just looked up Jason Collins who was strong enough to defend the biggest of the bigs, but he was never known as a good shot blocker. I think Kelly is finally at peace with his body after a major growth spurt. I think he has a higher ceiling than it seems for center defense, since Collins seemed to get some credit for that and he was pretty lame for stats.

I guess it's too late to bring Zizic in this year. It might be too much pressure to put on a rookie, plus money wise it hurts the team I guess losing a year of team cap rights or something.
