http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/244513/Nets-Asking-For-Two-First-Rounders-For-Brook-Lopez

The Brooklyn Nets are seeking two first round picks in exchange for Brook Lopez.

Lopez is signed through the 17-18 season on a three-year, $60 million deal he agreed upon with the Nets in 2015.

After struggling with injuries earlier in his career, Lopez has played in 72 and 73 games in 14-15 and 15-16, while remaining healthy this season.

Lopez has also added a three-pointer to his offensive repertoire, hitting 36.1 percent of his 5.2 attempts per game.

MARC STEIN/ESPN

The good news here is that if he is moved for picks, they will undoubtedly suck next season too.
Let's hope they settle and take a single first round pick and some scraps :)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

He's signed for a whole season and a half and they want two firsts?

I'm hearing "a one and a two."

Two firsts for a walking injury? Pass.

He's actually been pretty solid injury-wise of late.

Clearly it depends on what two firsts right?  I mean, two first in the middle of the round would be easy to give up.  But the nets might not do that.  So no, two firsts is by no means crazy.  Just need to know the details.

I just can't figure out what team he fits on -- Portland for Meyers Leonard, Ezekiel, and a pick (or apparently two, which is reasonable if they're taking on Leonard's salary)?  I'm sure Leonard would love to chuck up 3s in Brooklyn.  They'd need to send out a little more salary tho, and that would make an already expensive team in 2017 even costlier.

I can't think of a single team that would do that.

Recall that Mosgov fetched 2 first rounders not long ago.  Though those were late first rounders, it's not inconceivable that Brook could be dealt for something similar.

Decent young prospect + mid-late 1st
2 mid-late 1st rounders
1st rounder + 2 2nd rounders + low end prospect

Any of those seems to be within the right price range.  But I'm having a hard time finding a team that would do such a trade.

Well Mozgov was a big who could play on both ends of the floor, while Lopez...suffice to say to gets "roasted" on D

Lot of $$$$ for a 29mpg player. Pass.

They've sat him 3 games.

The plan was to rest him on back to backs for a total of 14 projected missed games this year, but he just played in back to backs within the last couple of days, probably to showcase him and hope he doesn't break down.

Lopez is a tremendous offensive force when he's on his game.  High character player and consummate professional.  Over this season and last season, the Nets have really struggled to play decent basketball when he isn't on the floor.  The problem is he's sometimes too unselfish and can disappear for long stretches during a game.  Doesn't have an alpha male mentality.  Liability in pick and roll defense but can provide good rim protection.  His inability to rebound is well-documented.

I think his value is obviously highest to the Nets organization.  I'm still coming up blank in terms of a good fit - especially on a contending team - for him.  But I still hope he's traded.  Would be great for our pick this year and next.

Portland would actually be a good fit for him, but I don't think they would trade anything close to the package the nets are wanting (Eg. Crabbe+17 por 1st)

Portland can't trade Crabbe until July because they matched his offer sheet, per NBA rules.  So the Nets know they can't ask for him.
