I think Houston could make that move.

Two firsts for a walking injury? Pass.

He's actually been pretty solid injury-wise of late.

The last two seasons and so far this season have been injury-free, but he's had enough issues that I don't think it's worth gambling two firsts.

Bone grafts apparently work.  Lopez got it and is in his 3rd straight season without a major injury so far.  Durant go it and made it through all last season.  Embiid got it and looks good so far.

Hopefully the Nets move Lopez.  Without him I really can't see them digging out of the bottom 5.   Lopez is a really good player for what he provides.  Hopefully he doesn't end up on one of our rivals or something.

Recall that Mosgov fetched 2 first rounders not long ago.  Though those were late first rounders, it's not inconceivable that Brook could be dealt for something similar.

Decent young prospect + mid-late 1st
2 mid-late 1st rounders
1st rounder + 2 2nd rounders + low end prospect

Any of those seems to be within the right price range.  But I'm having a hard time finding a team that would do such a trade.

Exactly, my problem isn't the price. Who wants Lopez, period?

Why would a team that runs and guns and wants defense and athleticism out of its center trade for Lopez?

Lopez is a tremendous offensive force when he's on his game.  High character player and consummate professional.  Over this season and last season, the Nets have really struggled to play decent basketball when he isn't on the floor.  The problem is he's sometimes too unselfish and can disappear for long stretches during a game.  Doesn't have an alpha male mentality.  Liability in pick and roll defense but can provide good rim protection.  His inability to rebound is well-documented.

I think his value is obviously highest to the Nets organization.  I'm still coming up blank in terms of a good fit - especially on a contending team - for him.  But I still hope he's traded.  Would be great for our pick this year and next.
Portland would actually be a good fit for him, but I don't think they would trade anything close to the package the nets are wanting (Eg. Crabbe+17 por 1st)

Portland can't trade Crabbe until July because they matched his offer sheet, per NBA rules.  So the Nets know they can't ask for him.
Well I was just talking about the nets' preferred package 😅

Why would a team that runs and guns and wants defense and athleticism out of its center trade for Lopez?

Because he shoots 5 three-pointers per game at a 36% clip.  That would actually fit what Houston does on offense.

But, yeah they probably pass, because I don't think they have enough salary they are willing to part with to make a deal work.

It's what they do everywhere except center. All their centers are defensive, athletic types. I'd envision someone like Nerlens being a much better fit for them, if they were looking to acquire a new big. Anyways, they're likely not willing to give up the asking price, match salary, etc., so the whole discussion is likely purely hypothetical.

Yes, all of their centers are high energy, defense/rebounding types.  But I could see why they might like some diversity there, and a three-point shooting center would fit.

But it is a moot point, his salary makes it impossible.  Someone like Mo Speights or Channing Frye would be a better fit, although I doubt either is at all available.

Lopez is a good player. He is also 28 yo and has been reasonably healthy for the last two three seasons.
For what it's worth, he is Brooklyn's best player.

As LarBrd33 says, if BRN indeed makes this trade, it would be great for our picks, esp. if they  receive picks in exchange.

Edit in strikethrough.

I think that there are a lot of possibilities including Portland and Houston, but there are others.

If Toronto doesn't get Milsap, Ujiri wants to win now.

I can see a Ross/Sully/Poeltl trade being considered by both sides.

What about Milwaukee for Monroe and a pick and/or Maker?

What about Dallas for one last hurrah with Dirk? Bogut and Powell and a first for Lopez.

How about OKC for Kanter? Would that make russ happy?

I can't think of a single team that would do that.

Exactly.
The Nets are outta their minds thinking they'll get two picks for him.  They MIGHT get 1 pick that is 18 and higher, but they'll never get a lottery pick for him.  I would bet serious money on this.  Most teams can't use him to his capability, and besides, he's a major injury risk with a giant contract.  Ain't happening.

I'd give them Jerekbo and Johnson plus 2018 and 2019 first
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I always knew he wasn't the greatest rebounding center, but only 5RPG this year? Yikes!
