I don't recall guys posting threads that we had to take Giannis in 2013, before that draft. Would love for someone to post proof of that. There are a lot of bitter fans but unless you have proof that you were advocating taking him before that draft I am not sympathetic.

Call me ignorant, but I never heard of the guy until a year later.

If Giannis Adetokunbo is available at 16, I'd love that pick.   Not ready to help next year, but no one is at that spot, so might as well go upside, which he has in spades.  I know the C's have been looking at him in the very least.

Awesome. You should replace Ford.

hmm.. okay. You got that, big bro.

I don't how people can still look at Olynyk and not have a deep sigh... you would think Danny would look around and see that there were no other prospects like Giannis. The tapes of him beating everyone down the floor going coast to coast, were so promising... only young LeBron was capable of such feats.

Concentrating too much on college ball...are ther any good international prospects out there that we might miss on like Gianniis or Kristap.

Ntilikina is a guard version of Giannis. But he is a better shooter and has a higher IQ than Giannis at the same age.

I think he is a better prospect than Exum was a few years ago.

I like Ntilikina, but this comparison does not work.

I think you underestimate how good Giannis´s passing and decision making were early in his career.

I´m also not sure what you mean by >guard version of Giannis.

Giannis played PG already in Filathlitikos.

I mean his body mainly. He takes long strides like Giannis and is learning to use his length well. Ntilikina's passing has really developed over the last 6 months. It's looking impressive.

I use comps mainly in athleticism (body type, movement, etc.) and game feel.

I don't love comps, but they can be useful.

What is your comp for him?

Thanks for the reply. I am not familiar with the term >comps, a quick explanation would be appreciated.

As for Ntilikina, I have not watched Strasbourg play so far this year - they did not make it in the Euroleague; I have only watched vids and read reports, either of which I do not trust much. I do not know enough to  even take a guess about where he will end in the draft (nor am I much interested in the guessing game tbh).

Having said this, Ntilikina ticks several boxes on paper (length, age, plays pro in a good team, led the French U18 to a gold in a European championship) to be intrigued.

Speaking of which here is a recent list of euro-prospects.

I personally don't care much for the Euro prospects this year, at least not as the top 5 pick we will get, but in 2018 I want Luka Doncic.

But, ironically enough, the person with "Bitter" in their username and who's signature says "I'm bitter" is not bitter about that pick (I actually wanted Gobert, but I can see why Danny made the safe pick)
I'm bitter.

TP for you.  You even butchered his last name like everyone was doing back then.  I thought for sure when they announced there was a trade it was to get Giannis.

Nor is the person who demonstrated his desire for Giannis.  I'm advocating that KO be re-signed next summer.

People everywhere are sleeping on Markannen.  7 ft, 3 point shooting efficiency monster whos only weakness is strength, which is totally fixable.  Yes, he gets pushed around by the biggest centers, but he gets put on guards as a result and can totally hold his own there.

@DefenseWinsChamps that makes sense lol

@saltlover you are right that most euro-prospects are irrelevant for our Brooklyn pick. My interest has more to do with me living in Europe than anything the C's might do next draft. My fave young Greek player (Dimitrios Moraitis) might not even declare for the 2017 draft.

And TP for the Giannis comment ofc.

PS I just saw the last comment about that. Adetokunbo is perfectly correct and closer to how his name is actually pronounced. This is the Nigerian spelling of his name and iirc this how he first appeared in articles about the draft. Antetokounmpo is the official  Romanization of the Greek spelling of his name (ie his name as it appears in the passport). For those interested in details, u becomes ou, d becomes nt and b becomes mp.

TP for the pronunciation guide.  And as for my interest in Doncic, have you followed him at all?  I'm very impressed with his Euroleague performance despite being only 17.

Hehe, I remember saying this a long time ago and you denied this  ;)

I googled it like a mad man after that and couldn´t find anything and I started to question my sanity

For those that are putting together tiers, what are you basing your tiers on? Are you basing it on what you have seen in the college season or for a player like Tatum are you considering what he did his junior year of HS, his senior year, McDs game, Nike Hoop Summit, U17 & U19 games, his games at Duke.

So I guess the question is to what metrics are you using because there are plenty of people on this board that like Jaylen now but hated the idea of taking him in the beginning due to a handful of games that you watch in college.

I like Markkanen quite a bit but he's not a top 5 pick in this draft.  He's not the next Porzingis.  He's average athletically.  He's quite fundamentally sound overall.  His shooting is excellent.  His rebounding and passing are solid but not exceptional.  His strength is a weakness.  He's not a shot blocker or rim protector.  He is not slow but he is not quick.  He had some difficulty with lateral quickness defending Miles Bridges drives.  He's not going to step out and defend the perimeter like Noel can.  If the Nets pick somehow falls out of the top 5 or so, I'd be quite happy if Ainge takes Markkanen and lets Olynyk walk.
