JAE CROWDER on Twitter: "@GlennDOrdway < NOT AT ALL JUST STATING SIGNS OF DISRESPECT. U KAN KALL IT WHATEVER U LIKE"

This tweet to me has racial undertones. He spells kan kall it with k's. A lot of people have been doing this on Facebook since Trump was elected , referring to the kkk.

Either Jae is not literate or he is saying its racism because c's fans want a white guy to replace him.

I understand his frustration, but this is just dumb.

After doing a little more research it turns out the Crowder was referencing the kkk when he said "you kan kan call it whatever you like".

He responded to Glen Ordway with that tweet after someone pretending to be a C'S fan tweeted this to him.

If you look at that guys profile, he is clearly a troll and someone on realgm said that he changed his avatar to a Celtics logo that same day before trolling Jae.

A bunch of other twitter users did the same thing.

Crowder is an idiot for this, Management needs to take away his twitter.

So dumb....

I wrote this in the comments on one of the front-page stories, but figure I'll add my two cents here as well:

I'm not sure what Jae, and certain Celtics fans, expect.

There are, at most, a handful of players who are "untouchable" in trades. Jae Crowder is not even close to being one of them. Neither is anyone else on this roster.

I get it; the Celtics of the last couple seasons have been a great rah-rah story—"We’re One Superstar" and all that—and team play is certainly important. But the NBA is a business, and Danny’s ultimate goal, his endgame, is another title—so things like teamwork and camaraderie and the like, though they have their place in the NBA, are generally a bigger deal to fans than to team executives. Celtics fans have different opinions in the Crowder vs. Hayward debate, but one thing should be clear to us all: Danny will always be cheering for whoever’s wearing Green, but he’ll also always be thinking about how to make the team better. And in this case, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have Crowder written in stone—or even penciled in—as a starter on the next Celtics title team. Crowder should realize that, and so should Celtics fans.

After all, I’m pretty sure there’s not even one Celtics fan who, if asked to pick the one player in the whole league they’d want as Boston’s starting SF, would pick Crowder. Which means, when you get right down to it, we ALL want an upgrade from Crowder. Hayward may be that, or he may not be; but let’s not act like Crowder is Paul Pierce.

You had me until 'Hayward may be that'...No Hayward is not that, and therein lies the problem. He does not move the needle one inch. What he may give in offense he loses in defense grit and leadership.

Well, I did say "may be." ;D

I think Jae understands trade rumors regarding KD, AD, KAT, Boogie, Thompson, Green, Griffin, George, etc. I don't think that Hayward is in that tier, and I'm sure Crowder thinks that Hayward is closer to his level. They are different players with different skill sets, but I might be perturbed if I thought a guy who isn't much better than me was going to take my job, and get paid 3-4x what I make.

I agree that Hayward isn't in that tier, and I think most people feel the same. But I think most people believe Hayward to be better than Crowder, based on their careers to this point, and I think that's fair (though they are pretty even this season).

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
This will be the Cs last chance to add 'free' max level talent for several years. While I agree that I would prefer it to be a big like Griffin, I certainly wouldn't scoff at Hayward. Our team plus Hayward is better than our team without - which is essentially where we will be (unless you consider Noel a better improvement than Hayward, which I guess I can understand given their positions).

The trade options from there are endless. We would IT, Horford, and Hayward. We would still have all of our core support players (-KO). And we would still have all of our BKN picks. Maybe Jae sees the writing on the wall as he might be part of a trade, but I would absolutely love to keep him and his bargain contract around as a 2-3-4 off the bench.

Basically, we still need talent to contend, and Jae either needs to become a superstar or not be so sensitive.

Crowder's interview from today:

https://twitter.com/ESPNForsberg/status/817055462835318784

Can you entirely blame him??

I mean, the Sixers are coming to town Friday, then Pelicans Saturday.

Will the fans cheer for Noel and Anthony Davis as well?

Maybe it's not a big deal to us fans here.. but how would the players feel, giving it their all on the court, winning games (they are a 3 seed in the East and 21-14 people...), and yet almost every game they are cheering for future FA's.

It would be one thing if an opposing player got injured or was retiring (Kobe for example), but not in a normal January game...

I think this is the only reason Hayward makes sense.

This offseason is our last opportunity to substantially better the team via FA. This means if we dont sign a big FA we forfeit the asset of open cap space.

The only big FAs are really Hayward and Griffin. If we sign Hayward we increase our overall talent level. It also requires a trade from Brown/Crowder but in terms of winning championships Id say the best path is to maximize your talent and then figure out a way to piece/trade your talent into a team that fits the best.

Well, I don't think Hayward is a superstar. He's a very, very good player -- but we already have a very good player at his position, so such a move only has incremental value to us.

yeah it comes down to this for me.

You sign Hayward for probably $17 million more than Crowder right? maybe even  more.

With hayward, lets say we immediately trade Crowder to help address a big man weakness. So the questions is this:

Value added: (1)increase in small forward production because Hayward > Crowder
Value lost: (1)loss in value in Crowders eventual trade(lose leverage in signing Hayward)(2)loss in value due to future luxury tax situation dissuading extensions.

If you believe you can get fair value for Jae and ownership is willing to pay that luxury tax until the cows come home, then you sign Hayward all day long.
