I can understand him being upset, because the guy plays his tail off, and is having a good season. He's part of a group of players we have that are the heart and soul of this team.
I like Hayward, he has more refined skills than Crowder, such as passing, ball handling, and he can create his own shots, all areas where Crowder could use improvement. But on the whole, including defense, Hayward wouldn't be much of a step up.
I'd rather get another big that can control the paint, and rebound.
The big thing is the cost aspect of it. Hayward at the max for 4 years or Crowder at 6M$ a year for 3 years. That's a HUGE difference. Im not so sure you wanna make that signing without Crowder going out in a trade for another star-level guy. Thomas/Hayward/Horford isn't much more of a contender than Thomas/Crowder Is against the Cavs.
I too would like a big who can rebound, defend and score. But I'd be willing to get rid of Crowder for a guy like Paul George at the max. Thomas/George/Crowder is a couple good role players away from contention, and we might have them in Bradley, Smart, Jaylen, etc.
And I don't believe for a second Crowder would ever be involved in talks for Vucavic outside of the Magic saying "How about straight up for Crowder?" And then Danny saying curse words.
