A Lookback on Butler Deal

Looking back at this past draft when we knew the Bulls wanted Dunn. Wyc said the asking price was too high for Butler. However, now that Jimmy Butler has turned into a stud, do we think the Celtics should've made the deal? I believe Crowder was the hanging piece from the deal if I recall.

They could still do the deal. All their chips are still in place, probably have more value with jaylen showing what he can do, and nets being tied for worst record.

If I'm not mistaken, KC Johnson (a Bulls reporter), leaked details about the potential trade in the works.

It was #3, #16, Bradley and Crowder for Jimmy Butler (correct me if I'm wrong).

Don't blame Wyc. That price is STEEP...

Steep price, but I think I'd have to do it. He's got 50 points tonight with 11 rebs and 6 asts, let alone 3 stls and 1 blk.

50 POINTS! That's still a steep price. I'd like to see how he does the next three games.

They play @CLE, TOR, OKC. Tough stretch. Should tell us a lot.

I don't know why Ainge wanted Butler so badly. The guy can't shoot the 3. Passes it up repeatedly. Tonite he got 50 with 21 FTs. The refs were generous at home. Plus Wade was out.

The only players in the league who average more FTA per game are Harden, Westbrook and Anthony Davis.

Yeah, it definitely puts us right there. Especially is Ainge could pull off a Rozier and Noel swap.

It's a steep price and we'd lack wing depth but in retrospect, maybe I would've done it. It's really the inclusion of Bradley which makes me hesitate.

Nobody really knows what the Bulls wanted for Butler. Whatever, it must have been too much for Ainge.

While I think the best use of lottery picks at this point is to trade 'em for a star player, I don't know if Butler would be the guy. He needs to have the ball, as he showed last night. And they're not going to get much better with another 3, because what's keeping them down is another big who can rebound to go with Horford. They have plenty of guys who can put the ball in the basket if they get good shots with ball distribution.

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was #3, '17 BKN swap, Bradley, and Crowder, but Ainge wouldn't budge on Crowder. I guess we will never know the details before.

That is a very steep price - not sure it would have made a lot of sense at the time. Bradley is much improved, Crowder has settled into the perfect 3 and D leader, Brown is showing his potential, and the Nets still suck big time.
