Keys not forget, one of the main reasons danny wanted to trade for butler was to lure Durant here.  I'm sure he is still interested, but with the nets having the worst record in the league, he won't trade it before the deadline except for maybe cousins, Griffin or Paul George all-nba type players.

Butler needs the ball in his hands to score. Not sure how that would work with IT?

There were conflicting reports and, as others have said, we just don't know what the Bulls were asking for but let's not forget that Chicago never actually wanted to trade Butler. From what I've gathered is they wanted multiple Brooklyn picks and multiple rotation guys. So it was probably something like #3, Brooklyn '17, Crowder, and Bradley. Maybe there was another pick asked for as well.

At the end of the day, whatever it was, Ainge thought it would be too much for Butler and he was probably right.

(a) Jimmy Butler has been a stud since before the rumored draft day trade talks

(b) As others have noted, the asking price for Butler was probably way, way more than Crowder and the #3.  My guess is they asked for, at a minimum, Smart + Crowder + all the BRK picks.

My understanding is the ask was '17, #3, Bradley, Crowder.

0 problem with Ainge turning that down. Thats an overpay even with Butlers improvement.

I think it'd work OK.  Butler has made it work alongside Wade, and IT has shown he can do well playing off the ball for stretches.

Some of those deals are still too steep for me. Butler is a star, but still not a multiple Brooklyn pick superstar. The difference is, if you miss out on Butler there are other guys you can try to get who are just as good or better (like Paul George).

The superstar guys like Durant/Lebron, when you miss out on them you know you aren't getting another chance at a guy like that anytime soon.

So you can afford to be picky about trading for stars, but you make sacrifices just for the chance at a superstar.

Some of those Butler rumors are superstar prices.

Does adding either PG13 or Jimmy Butler mean there is no cap space left to acquire a free agent like Noel, Millsap, or Ibaka?

Or would there be still be some if certain internal moves were made?
