I don't want to mortgage the future for him, but would you do a Memphis pick, Johnson, and filler for him?

Edit: What if we sent them Olynyk and Johnson for Milsap? We'd have to play small ball more, but maybe we could pick up another veteran big. That gives the Hawks a stretch 4 that they can pair with Howard.

You're effectively recreating the Hawks.

I'd happily do Olynyk, Amir, and a non-BRK pick.

The Celts as constituted might not make it past the first round. I dunno if they'd re-sign Millsap, but adding him would give them a shot at earning the right to get killed by the Cavs in the ECF.

I'd do that trade too. My only think it that I'd want us to make another trade to get a veteran big to give Al a break from banging with the centers.

We could still get Bogut I imagine.

That's an option. We'd need to wait so we can include Zeller in the outgoing contracts.

It should be pointed out that the Raps, Rockets, and a half dozen other teams will probably be willing to give up more than marginal assets for Millsap.

They don't have much that they can give up, and it's also a half season rental of Milsap.

I agree with all but the Crowder/Carroll comparison, who are pretty even I think, at least when you consider him in his 2015 role versus how Crowder is now. The benches are pretty even, too.

I think that team is quite a bit better than the Hawks of 2015, at least in the playoffs, though I still don't think it's enough to get past Cleveland. And I'd still rather try for trades for someone like Boogie or Noel and Butler/PG before giving up anything substantial for Milsap, though your proposed trade would be a steal.

Milsap could potentially make Toronto pretty dangerous. That'd be an interesting pairing, though it's unclear what they'd trade for him - Ross and the Clips pick this year? Could Ross be their next starting two guard between Schroeder and Bazemore? Not too much raw talent there.

I like the Rockets fit less. He'd certainly help their D, but with how they're playing Anderson is a pretty good fit at 4 for them. I don't think Milsap shoots the long ball well enough to justify that change. They're looking more for an upgrade at the 5, with Koufos in Sacramento supposed to be their main target.

OKC would be another really good fit for him, though it's unclear what they could trade for him, too.

I actually like Milsap a lot.  Not concerned about the Hawks comparison, he fills a huge need for us and fits the timetable with Al and IT, plus I don't think we would have to give up our best assets for a guy who is most likely going to be leaving Atlanta anyways.  The only real concern I have is the next contract, but I don't see any top free agents leaving their teams next year and the C's will have money to spend on someone.

I would be very curious what the price would be.

I love Millsap. I'd give up a fair amount for him, basically anything other than Brown or a Nets Pick.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Denver apparently was close to trading for him over the summer and thinking about it, I think he's the perfect kind of player for them to target. Denver has the exact same problem that Boston does: an excess of role player depth with a lack of superstar or even elite talent. The Nuggets and the Celtics should be looking for trades that allow them to consolidate their talent.

I'm not sold on the Millsap/Horford pairing and I wasn't while they were playing together in Atlanta. I don't think reuniting Millsap and Horford fixes the Celtics' existing rebounding issues.
