  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
he'd be a massive upgrade over Amir and would be great as another scoring threat for the playoffs.

Wouldn't wanna give up too much for him though. Maybe Memphis pick?

Korver and Thabo are also available per the same report. I would be really intrigued by Korver. The spacing alone he would provide would do wonders for our offense, especially as teams will look to trap Thomas in the playoffs.
Korver would also be a rental but I'd love to see what he could do in Brad's system.

"Maybe Memphis pick"? There's no chance that gets anything done. There's probably a dozen teams that would be bidding against Boston for Millsap's services.

He's expiring and will want a max the next year. How many teams will do both? And what will they give up?

You're effectively recreating the Hawks.

People always say this and some even fall for it.

IT>>>Teague (Teague is great but this isn;t close)
AB >>/> Korver
Jae >/= Carroll
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Not exactly really true. Horford is having same numbers  from last season. His rebounding dipped a little bit, but his assist are up to the highest of his career.

Numbers are tough to compare from team to team. It's just the Hawks had them 2+ years younger in their primes while we'd have them on the other side of their primes.

Olynyk and Amir have next to zero trade value at this point. Olynyk fills out your rotation right now and that's about it.  Amir is still serviceable but is on the decline.

I don't think this is accurate.

Olynyk is not a world-beater, true, but he provides floor spacing and adequate defense + passing at the center position, which has demonstrable value in today's league (see: Spencer Hawes continuing to get $$ and playing time).

Amir is in decline, yes, but he can still play defense and provide a positive locker room presence.  If the Hawks end up trading Millsap, I suspect they'll do better than a couple quality rotation bigs on expiring contracts plus a medium-value future 1st round pick ... but I doubt they'll do a lot better.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Wouldn't trade for him unless it's very cheap. I like the AJ, Jerekbo, Young and Grizz+Clippers 1st.

Any team interested in trading for him is obviously going to seriously contemplate paying to keep him.

What we'd have to subtract in young players to get him .....would not be worth it in the long term , given his age .

His age does not fit the Celtics time line .   You want the Celtics to peak in the next 2-3,years aimed at LeBrons demise ......he can't play forever.

Anyone remember when the Suns had to accept a trash return for Dragic, who not only was expiring, but trashed the Suns on his way out? Or when they couldn't get a lottery pick in return for an extremely unhappy Markieff Morris? Me either.

People are absolutely fooling themselves if they think a considerably better player in Millsap would be traded for "maybe" the Memphis pick or Zeller, Jerebko, and a second, or any other similar garbage offer.

Time and time again, people swear "nah, teams have no leverage with these guys," but then the market dictates otherwise. I also remember when there was "no way" the Wolves could get Wiggins for Love.

I love Millsap but I don't see a way he works here, except as a half-season rental that we'd have to drastically overpay for. He doesn't make us a contender and doesn't fit as a resigning at the price he'd fetch.

The Suns got two distant firsts from Miami for Dragic.  One is top 7 protected next year and unprotected in 2019.  The other is unprotected in 2021.  It was a decent get, all things considered, but getting picks from a probably good team 3-4 and 6 years after the trade is far from spectacular.

Dragic also had an easier salary to trade for, $7.5 million instead of $20 million, which was 12% of the cap instead of 21%.  If Atlanta wants expiring contracts (my gut says they do beyond guys on rookie deals), it's difficult to get to that salary amount.
