Poll

All our first rounders from 2018 to 2019. We keep the Nets pick this year.

Yes. Easy decision.
No. Too much.

I said yes.

The trade is pretty much BKN '18 for Paul George, the rest is filler.  I think that's worth it.  We don't know it will be a top pick like BKN has this year.  The other 3 picks aren't much (and we can't trade back to back picks).  Amir is expiring anyway, plus it's a logjam between him, Horford, KO, JJ, and Crowder.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I would do this trade, but the NBA wouldn't allow it because it violates the Stepien rule.  We need to keep at least one 2018 or 2019 first rounder (so just change our 2019 pick to 2020 and it would work).  The protections on the Clippers pick prevent it from counting as a 2019 first as far as the Stepien rule is concerned
I'm bitter.

D'andre Ayton is a Karl Towns/AD/MVP type player and he will be in the 2018 draft. I'm not new to the Ayton bandwagon...have been on since he was a hs soph. If Ainge decides to go in another direction it would be huge to have 2 top picks in the 2018 draft. If Ayton goes #1 we could package both picks for him.

In 2018 we have BOTH Nets and Celts pick...among others. This year/before the deadline DA should have the option to evaluate the team and if a good deal comes up or he can get creative and trade IT/AB/Crowder/Horford/etc for legit young talent. Especially if he does not like the value IT and AB will hold next year as rentals and he does not want them to walk or pay them.

Can you explain to me why you are so high on Ayton? He looks like a good prospect to me, don't get me wrong, but I am not sure he is that next level transcendent star. He kind of looks like a skilled Deandre Jordan (a great style of player sure.)

Also hypothetically say he was in the draft, are you really willing to bet PG13 on the fact that the nets will be so awful that they will give us a 25% chance to get him?

Bird would just laugh. Unless he wants to pull a McHale and just give his best player for free.

I don't see a big trade happening for a star player. Bird would want more than that. The draft is a crapshoot. How can anyone tell what will happen with 19 year old players?

I love Jaylen Brown and have already locked him in for MVP's and the Hall of Fame, but that's myself as a homer.

Jaylen Brown would only be a dent in what let's say Sacramento would want for Cousins. It would be Brown and the next Brooklyn pick for starters, then they would also be asking for Smart, Crowder and Olynyk.

It'd be better for Danny to try for a guy like Noel who would come a lot cheaper. Sanders is a free agent and can be signed for nothing?

I don't see any chance of Zeller returning. I could see Amir getting the next one or two year deal for a band-aid backup center.

I also wouldn't be so quick to unload the Memphis pick. They could definitely be a lottery team by the time that pick is selected. I don't know if it's protected.

I am also not eager to simply unload the 2018 Brooklyn pick. If we take the three seed and end up with any kind of good regular season record, Brooklyn is looking at a late first round pick next year and what else?

Brooklyn is very bad with no foreseeable path to even mediocrity.

We have a big game tonight with lots of internal team development, yet this blog is still dominated by conjecture and negativity that has nothing to do with 2016-17.

There is a Celtics Blog section called Transaction Ideas and Rumors. Shouldn't stuff like this go there?

If he threatening to walk or not a sure thing.   I think a deal could be made.  Four firsts is enough start over .   If your star is leaving anyway .....then that's a haul.

Paul George is overrated as hell.  Why anyone would pay that much for him is beyond me.

Idk man. That guy is a legit top 10/15 player. How many guys are 6'9, All-NBA defenders who can score at will and are good enough off the ball to work with IT? A line-up of Thomas/Bradley/George/Crowder/Horford is right there just a half inch below the cavs/GSW.

Still, even if Indiana would look to move him, that's not the package that gets it done. It's gotta include some real players plus the picks. Think like..

Amir
Rozier
Olynyk
2017 Brooklyn
2018 Boston
2018 Memphis

And chances are you'd probably have to include one of Smart/Brown/Crowder in that too.

2018 Nets 1st
2018 Celtics 1st
2019 Celtics 1st
2019 Memphis 1s

And James Young is the throw in. Salaries work, would you make this trade.
Boston cannot trade all of those 1st's as it would leave Boston without a first in both 2018 and 2019.  As the Memphis pick is guaranteed to turnover in 2019 it can't be included in the analysis which means Boston must keep at least 1 of the first 3 picks identified.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
