Based on what?  Danny Ainge isn't even mentioned in this article.

The article also fails to mention Isaiah Thomas, a fantastical outlier in the 51-60 pick range, at all.

not sure thats the conclusion Id reach from this but why not? go ahead.

The only place where teams drafting performance is analyzed is a chart that has SAS as the second worst drafting team in the league and Sacramento as the 4th best.

please.

Ainge hates bigs.
We could of had the Greek Freak and DeAndre Jordan.

I think Ainge is above average.  I think people more don't understand how he drafts.  He will pass on guys and find players in other ways.  He utilizes the draft getting players he likes and will try to hit a home run if it's there.

We are still a very good team even after breaking up the  big 3.

He got Perk, Rondo, TA, Big Baby, Al  j and utilized Al j, gomes, delonte to make us better elsewhere.

He got Bradley, Smart, jaylen, Rozier, KO etc..

We aren't drafting at the top of drafts here. He's had some busts but has had some hits as well.

Ainge probably has more guys in the nba and contributing than anyone.

HE's not going to blow up the world unless it is durant or bird etc.. I don't blame him.  Are these other teams that good drafting these guys?  Philly, Minny, the lakers etc all stink. He looking for the best move. Sometimes that's not what people like.

Better than having a bunch of guys that aren't bird or durant and not being able to pay them or any plan in sight.

He's terrible, he could have drafted Duncan and Durant but couldn't win the ping pong balls... horrible.

That's the thing Ainge would have drafted Duncan and Durant if he was there.  He wasn't that high.  He tries to get those guys in other ways. Suer he maybe could have taken giannis. Even paul george was sliding down drafts.  He tries to move up though and gamble sometimes.  He's aggressive.  Sometimes he screws up.  Big deal.

Yeah, and the charts they had were either useless (The only meaningful info you can get from Figure 2 is that as points go up, assists generally go up as well, which isn't helpful - both increase based on minutes played, and coloring based on when they were drafted gets lost in the sea of dots) or misleading (Figure 3 completely ignored when players were picked in the draft, counted stashes and retired players as "out of the league", and the x axis said it was in % but it was really just the proportion of players that weren't currently in the NBA)

Had anyone even heard of this site before this article was posted?

It's really not that easy to run a team as people think. When we took AB we were looking at replacing Ray down the road because he was the first chip to fall.

Teams go in the tank end up with crap plaeyrs and end up in the lottery year after year.

There are only so many tim duncan's in this world.  It's about picking your spots.

Ainge was trying to avoid this team sucking ass for another 20 years. I appreciate the work he does.

That's much more a suer thing than hoping to win the lottery year after year.

He also increased our odds in that regard because of his hard work getting the brooklyn  picks where we dont have to suck.

Ainge has more contributing players in the nba than anyone.  The odds are in his favor.

Come to to find out he is downright terrible

https://tartansportsanalytics.com/2016/12/21/finding-value-in-the-nba-draft/

Most of Ainge's picks have had medium to long NBA careers, and many have been contributors to playoff teams.

I do think its a bit egregious to trade into the lottery in 2013 and commit the same mistake C's did in the 1989 draft. This franchise needs to learn to gamble and go for the homerun, not just a hit a little single because it feels safe. No one is winning with a single, no one is trading DMC for a single.

What ainge is doing isn't hitting singles.  I don't think many people even  understands what ainge does. How many people even had Bradley as a pick? I did but my iq is way up there.

We are a top team in the nba and have some of the most underrated players around.

IT was the last pick in the draft.  Ainge saw this.

His picks are more than singles.  It's more like ainge is in another world than most people.

Perkins was drafted where and was our starting center on a championship team. That's not a single.

A lot of people hated that pick and loved Al j.  Ainge traded Al j and started perkins.

yeah you arent special

also if Ainge loved Isaiah Thomas he would have picked him instead of Etuan Moore (a solid pick in his own right)
