If you look at all around players Horford has to be around the 3rd best big man in the league.  I don't know how I'd rate them but I've seen him ranked much lower to higher.

1. Cousins
2. Davis
3. Horford

Love
Kristaps
jordan
Marc Gasol
Drummond
Whiteside
Myles Turner
Towns
Gobert

etc...

Some teams have gone so shooting happy you have to put durant in there even.  after that you have specialists like Bogut, Noel, Okafor.  Al j isn't what he was used to be.

If anything Towns is a bit overrated because of his age.

Some of these guys are pure PF's too.  Blake Griffin, Millsap, Ibaka, Aldridge, Favors etc..   Even Love and Davis are more power forwards. Horford can do both.

People will rate Towns better than Horford but that's not the reality of it. Horford is a better shot blocker and passer and all around player by far right now.

Griffin, Millsap, Ibaka, Aldridge should be rated in that list but it's more guys that can do both.

I just threw that list together to list all the top guys so take it with a grain of salt. It's not really a ranking.  It kind of is though.

Horford should probably be at 3 though. Gasol should be up there too although i think he's fallen off a bit the past few years. Horford hasn't.

I don't see how any of those guys rate better than Horford though.  Maybe Blake.  Kristaps isn't there yet.  Towns isn't either.  Turner, Gobert and Whiteside are more shotblockers.  Whiteside being the best right now probably.  That goes to jordan imo though. Aldridge is not better than Horford.

Cousins and  Davis are. Kevin Love and Horford are fighting it out for 3rd.

Horford is even more efficient than Boogie right now but as far as mass numbers it doesn't really compare.

Horford is 3 regardless on efficiency and numbers period.

Unless you count Kevin Durant, George, lebron, draymond etc who swing the 4 and are forwards but not big men.  They are still pretty big.

Vucevic, Valenciunis etc don't really rate. good  players who can be swapped in there, but those are really all the best.  Same with some of these other guys. It's also why you see teams going with Durant and Draymond at the 4 because they are beter served to put their best players out there vs some of these other guys who are more roleplayers.

If you look at teams records, Horford basically is that too. He's underrated.  Even when he was on the hawks.

But people rate Towns higher when his record doesn't really speak to that.

Boogie's has issues too but on pure numbers he does rate. Sac is just really that bad.

The least of our problems is Al Horford.

I think Al has to be one of the most underrated stars the more I watch him because he doesn't put up huge stats in any area but does so much. Love is like this too.  These guys are criminally underrated now because of the teams they are on and that they don't hog the ball.

I forgot Dirk in there too.  Still going. Duncan was like this until the end too.

Idk, I think Gasol and Griffin are for sure better.

Drummond is pretty good (such a better rebounder I think you have to give him the nod).

Aldridge I guess is debatable, but he's at least easily on the same level as Horford.

Horford still over Towns and Embiid for now, but if Zinger isn't considered better than him this season, then he will be next year for sure.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Griffin is such a stat stuffer to me.  Is he really better than KEvin Love?  Love averages half the points but his team is winning championships.  While Griffin is stat stuffing and his team isn't.

If you average out efficiency as well I bet Love is a better rated player than Griffin. Same with Horford.

Horford will get you assists and block shots and 3's. Where Griffin is still very 2 or 3 dimensional with his scoring and rebounding.

It's like saying Andrew Wiggins is beter than Draymond when Draymond does way more than just score.

I absolutely love Al Horford, but he is not the 3rd best big man in the NBA.

I do think you could make an argument for him being top 5, but I think Davis, Griffin, and Cousins (despite his demeanor) are definitely better. KAT and Porzingis will likely be better in short order as they get more established in the league.

That's what I was basing my ranking on.   KAT and Porzingis are the two guys coming but aren't there yet.  He's better than most pf's like aldridge and millsap.  Not Davis.  Maybe not Griffin.

I personally think Love is a much more well rounded player than Griffin.  Griffin just scores more because he is called on to do that with Paul and Deandre. Love could do the same but doesn't on his team.

I feel the same way abut Horford.  The rest of the guys are mainly shotblocking specialists and aren't as nearly well rounded.

Drummond is a beast but is very 2 dimensional and can't hit free throws to save his life.

Gasol is very well rounded and experienced but has dropped off the last few years.

That puts Horford at 3 for me. I think he's better than Griffin and Love because of his versatility.

Boogie and Davis are something else. That's like Wilt and Russell stuff.

To me Horford is like a new age parish who never was rated quite as good as guys like Kareem but was always up there.  Or even Ray Allen as a player. He's in that class of player.

Whiteside is an enigma a bit but again young and can be erratic. Deandre is really more experienced and better right now. Towns and Porzingis have to prove it.  They really haven't yet. They are putting up numbers.

Horford as far as efficiency and all around numbers probably rates better anyways than all of them.

Young players in general get overrated.  The rest of these guys are shotblockers standing under the basket and aren't doing anything really outside of that.  They aren't bill russell here.

Kind of weird is all because the C's are trying to hit at a weird time and become relavent and if they seem a bit  bland that's why.

This team doesn't really have that it factor for the fans of the old celtics teams or pierce, kg and ray.   But good players even still. IT is it right now.  So is Horford.

we are a good somewhat boring team.  It's not like i'm jumping over people to get these other guys though.

Horford is fine, but he doesn't do what Drummond, Whitesides, Gobert, Towns, M Gasol  and Cousins do, which is to protect the rim and get the ball.

Yeah he is.  He's also probably #1 in assists for big men.  Griffin is the only close.

He's one of the best shotblockers this year.

I would guess everywhere else in efficiency he is also near the top in the top 5 in rebounding efficiency, shooting etc compared to other top players.  He also can stretch the floor and play inside and do both.

he's more of a rare player now than peple realize as far as a fully developend big man.
