What if it's the other teams that over value their players/assets? More than likely it's all teams involved doing a bit of that.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Nothing new here, all you have to do is look at some of the trade threads here.

I would guess other teams don't value Mahcus and Jaylen nearly as much as we do.  Could you get a top 10 pick for either of them?

Smart who knows, probably not. Brown definitely a top 10. An 6,7,8 9th or 10th pic yes. He has more control and better shooting than expected while flashing the athleticism that made him such a high upside pick. If was getting the run on a rebuilding team his numbers would certainly be up. I think even lebron was impressed by him. Nice to have you back LB

Smart = possibly at the tail end in the 8-10 range. If one of those teams wanted a ready made player over a work in progress draft pick.

Jaylen = top 10, yes. top 5? Doubtful.

You think teams would rather have Jaylen Brown than the option of drafting a player like Malik Monk or Jayson Tatum?

I watch a lot of College ball.  Those guys are better than Jaylen was.

It does feel a little reminiscent of the Baby Bulls era in mid-00s.

Smart = Hinrich

I would MUCH rather have 3rd year Hinrich than 3rd year Smart

Hinrichs stats in his 3rd year:
42%FG , 37%3PT , 16 PPG , 6 APG , 4 RPG

Smarts offense is so bad that hes a liabilty out there alot of times.

Some ESPN writer came up with this perfect line last year to describe Smart's game.  Every time I really think about Smart's offensive production, I always think back to this:

Quote
Marcus Smart plays offense as if he's being defended by Marcus Smart."

Hahha. Thanks for the laught - TP!

Monk has a little Reggie Lewis in his game with the way he pops up so fast for that jumper.

I think they def. overvalue them. So does every other team. There's a reason why the Celtics drafted/signed these players. They liked them more than the other players available at their positions.

Not a hot take by Woj. More of an obvious statement to hit his twitter quota.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Ainge did make a trade with Memphis in June this year.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2016/06/23/boston-celtics-memphis-grizzlies-nba-draft-trade/KoouBqenWTUJd8eq1bKmPJ/story.html

And then in July of 2015 he traded for lee, no?

So, not that long ago. A quick web search would have told you this.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Why would we give up valuable assets for a guy like Hayward when we can just sign him in the offseason?   Hayward is going to get the max more than likely whoever he signs with.  He may remain in Utah but I would guess we'd be pretty enticing to him.

I don't think that's necessarily overvaluing our players.  It's being smart and not overpaying when we might not have to.

Danny has to shake his head when he reads stuff like this.  I'm pretty sure Ainge knows his own players values.  Woj knows better?

If it comes down to a situation where a trade makes sense does he not think Ainge would do it?
