This is the type of game that makes you think irrational thoughts about tanking because losing on purpose is preferable to trying to win only to have the other team keep you at arm's length the whole time with execution and pure talent that is so obviously superior that it's insulting.

That's not even the case here, though. Kawhi is obviously far, far superior to anyone on the Celtics. He's an elite, MVP-caliber guy, and that disparity should not be undersold. However, the Spurs only other elite talent was in street clothes. Who was the Spurs second most talented guy playing tonight, Danny Green? We're not getting out-talented; we're getting outplayed.

Last game against them, the Cs got burned by David Bertans. Tonight, the fossilized body of Pau Gasol nearly outrebounded the whole Boston team.

I mean, do people realize how bad Tony Parker is now? David Lee? These guys are destroying us, and they're genuinely not good.

You talk to Smart about that. Tony exposed him tonight

I honestly don't know what game you're watching. He scored some on Smart, but he absolutely dominated Rozier for like four possessions in a row in the early 4th.

I'm going to go ahead a repost a question I posed a few pages back. This is not meant to be rhetorical.

Even at full strength, we can't get to the rim, shoot, rebound, defend, or even out hustle anyone anymore. What does this team do exceptionally well?

Nothing yet. We are still a work in progress. We are about where I thought we'd be this year. We need work, luck and another top player. We are still a team in transition.

Rozier is a hotdog that doesn't play a team game. He can score and board but in the team game he looks lost.

5-13 tonight...

Yeah completely neglect the end of the 4th and the rest of the game. Typical Smart homer. There's a reason he had a -21 +/- against the Spurs starters. He couldn't keep up with Tony

Move/share the ball; control the ball and not turn it over. That's about it.

At least last year we were in pretty much every game due to our defense. But we just don't have it this year. We don't turn anyone over, get in the fastbreak, or even get the rebound once we do get stops.

Right now?  Nothing.  It's not even clear what we're trying to do well, other than jack up threes.

We're midway through my least favorite part of the schedule.  The schedule makers did not give the C's any kind of holiday present.  Here's the cities the team has been, and will continue to travel to.

Philly
Houston
Orlando
Boston
Oklahoma City
San Antonio
Boston
Miami
Memphis

That's a ton of travel.  Over 800 miles between every stop except OKC and San Antonio, which was still over 400 miles.  When I saw this stretch on the schedule I was hoping for 5-4 at best.  We're 2-4 so far, so not likely to get there, but maybe IT's return will help.  To go from Houston to Orlando, only to come back to OKC and Texas days later, via Boston, was absurd.  To return to Miami, again via Boston, and then go back to Memphis, which is as near OKC as any place else?  I think we have a nice schedule in the New Year, but this was as bad as a West Coast trip, if not worse.

Pop chews out his bigs ....makes em play hard .....or he'll nail their hides .....that's why when other teams get his players they suck ......he is mean old fart

CBS .....talks about it

Well sometimes you have to acknowledge that screaming at your players won't fix poor rebounders. Olynyk, Zeller, Johnson, and even Horford aren't exactly good rebounders and we are a poor rebounding team because of it. Brad yelling at his players won't change that

That's true ...but washed up Lee goes there and plays pretty good ......he sucked sooooooo bad in Boston

Yeah, but even Lee was a good rebounder/ player his entire career just not a good fit with the system

Lee was in Really bad shape when he played for us by his own admission.

True, true. And we cut him and moved on because of it. Yelling and screaming only works at the collegiate level, not against grown men. Pop may yell, but he does he only every so often. Look at Thibs, can't really win anywhere now and all that guy does is his guttural yell

This is beyond assinine.

I hate watch The Celtics passing up layups to get 3 point shots. You might make some but a layup should be a sure thing.

How? please explain to me your genius opinion because it's clear you had such informed commentary
You can even read testimonies on Bulls claiming that Thibs constant at you coaching style wore down on them and that's what caused him to lose the locker room.

Yeah, the end of the game, huh?

http://www.espn.com/nba/playbyplay?gameId=400899825

Parker scored once on Smart with 4:31 left in the game. He had two other assists at the end of the game, which I'm assuming you're trying to blame on Smart somehow? Smart also stole the ball twice from Parker, forcing two turnovers.

Parker scored three times on Rozier in the 4th - at 8:48, 8:22, and 7:07. He also assisted once at 7:54, which if you're going to blame his assists on Smart above must also go on Rozier down here.

So, yeah, somehow it was "Smart" who Parker went off on at the end of the game... I'm just a typical Smart homer.  ::)

One of those Parker assists was on Smart because he couldn't get around the pick and roll. And couldn't rotate quick enough to contain Parker well enough and let Amir rotate over back to his man. Also forgetting the countless blow byes that didn't create a assist, but further broke down the defense and created an open shot for somebody else.
Again you are neglecting the entire game. It's nice having a short term memory.
