I agree that force feeding minutes can be harmful to a player's development but I also think the only way to get someone more comfortable on the NBA stage is to give them minutes on the NBA stage. That doesn't have to be the 20 mpg he was averaging while Crowder was out but these 4 and 6 minute games aren't going to do much for him.
So yeah, I'd like to see him getting more floor time, both to develop and also because when he's gotten extended run in the past he's shown he can make stuff happen.
