Hey Danny you can't Draft Big Guy's

 Big Al? His best Big. Danny you stink at drafting big men. And your scared to draft bigs. Let's face in. You love 6'2" Guards with Long Arms.

 Yabu and  Zizic are on the Way but in these next two drafts he's gotta roll the dice on a Big time Big man.

 Maybe it's rolling the dice on Harry Giles knees. This team needs some stud young bigs now more than ever. And I'll take Blake or Millsap next year too.




 Has he ever drafted a big guy that can play defense? Mickey was supposed to but hasn't really panned out.

This is truly an asinine thread as well as being insulting for no good reason, it appears, than being insulting.

I would have hoped a thread that rehashes a worn out topic would have at least referenced or noted the many, many, many thread that deal with this and related topics on ainge's drafting.

Where is the analysis? The use of data and info? A poorly conceived and constructed thread.

I think is silly, but mostly because Danny has drafted so few big men since Erden in 2008.  I mean since then Danny has drafted Harangody in 2010, Jajuan Johnson in 2011, Sullinger and Melo in 2012, Olynyk in 2013, Mickey in 2015, and Yabu and Zizic in 2016.  Sullinger was a clear hit.  Olynyk is a quality player.  Melo and Johnson were busts.  Harangody was and Mickey is an ok pick based on draft position and who the heck knows with Yabu and Zizic. 

So not a lot to go on with many of them being late 1st or 2nd round picks.  The two highest selected big men in that time were both quality players in Sullinger and Olynyk (Yabu is obviously an unknown).

Perhaps Zizic is better, but I see them as rather different players.  From video on-line, Zizic seem more like a "power" player, very strong, nice touch around the rim, a conventional big.  Yabu, from SL, is more of a finesse player with a good outside shot, kind of a modern big like Draymond.

So Danny gets no credit for drafting Kelly Olynyk? A 7 footer with a career 37% 3 point percentage.

Don't like the assertion. A better way to put it would be that Danny has not invested his best picks on big men, when we've picked at the top in recent memory we've come away with guards and wings. Think it's fair to characterize Danny as untrusting of bigs near the top of the draft, whether its because they typically take longer to develop and have a higher bust potential than most high ranked guards.

For whatever reason it does seem like Ainge has a strong preference for undersized, underathletic, skilled big men.  He has very rarely drafted any of these pogo stick, roll-down-the-lane-and-dunk type guys.

His draft record selecting bigs who are underappreciated due to a lack of physical tools is pretty good though.

Zizic does look better than Yab. By the way did you see some of Zizic videos pre draft he was as finesse as KO. I didn't want him at all. Zubac was my guy. Then this year he has been a beast in Europe think he is motivated by being told not to come over as he was not ready yet.

I'm looking forward to having Zizic in Boston .   Goodbye to JJ .  Amir and KO may be on thin ice . With Brown set to be future ....next draft should be for a serious BIG.
